While I hope that "The U" will receive the same Death Penalty that SMU did, I don't think that anyone in the NCAA compliance office has the guts to do it.

BCS final:
1. LSU
2. Alabama
3. Oklahoma State
4. Stanford
5. Oregon

After the harsh penalty that SC got, Miami deserves to not have football for a couple of years.

  • ButtersButters A glass of some milks Registered User regular
All that and Miami still couldn't have a relevant football team since 2002.

Hell if I know. Last I checked it was still a 2 man race.

How long do you guys give it before A&M finds a second team and hops over to the SEC?

Also Arkansas' star RB is out for the season. Shit.

Munkus, they already did. unless you mean actually going out to their house, busting in, and beating the shit out of them.
That's one of the allegations is that he offered $5000 to players to take people out games.

    Bless your heart.

I think it will take a while. I think the SEC wants someone to leave their conference and apply rather than being seen as poachers.

  • rhylithrhylith Death Rabbits HoustonRegistered User regular
Yeah there's legal issues if they flat out ask A&M before they leave the big 12. they're probably waiting to see if A&M and a second school (Florida state?) will actually leave their conferences and then they'll take them.

No, I was talking about literal bounties. Like putting Cam Newton in carbonite bounty.

I can see it happening soon, and it will be fans of an SEC team.

There's no way the SEC gets A&M and not a sister team.

But do they get someone inside the current SEC footprint?

The fact that the U has been running afoul of the rules multiple times over 2 decades has to weigh in this, right?

getting A&M would be so awesome, though.

You would hope so, but it all depends on who the NCAA puts in charge of the infractions hearing for Miami.

    Maybe.

I'm willing to bet that there is at least one ACC team that is now anxious about their conference.

I don't understand why the SEC would be interested in the red-headed stepchild of Texas unless they were going to replace Vanderbilt or something.

I think it's all about recruiting trips to Texas and perceived TV sets in that market. I think aTm brings jack squat except trips to Texas.

  • ButtersButters A glass of some milks Registered User regular
Well I know A&M expects to get more money out of it but what is stopping the SEC from recruiting Texas already?

Heh, yeah I totally miss those times! I usually go to a few home games each season (Lord Dave and Eclipsed Planet on here go to more), but I haven't bought any tickets for 2011 yet. Which games are you going to? Also, what do you think about this Pac-12 division business?

Probably the same thing that's making people quit the big12.

Texas doesn't want to leave the Big 12, because of how the Big 12 revenue sharing works. In the Big 12, revenue sharing works off of TV exposure, while in the SEC, I believe revenue is shared equally. So from a financial standpoint, it makes no sense for Texas to leave.

It's nice to be able to give recruits tickets to games while not having to fly them out to your home stadium. It helps you also get in the door and tell Mom and Dad "We'll play here at least twice during your sons tenure with our university."

  • LanglyLangly Registered User regular
    yeah the SEC is communist

which is funny, in a way, considering where it's located.

We have season tickets, so I'll definitely be at the Texas game and the Cal game, and probably the rest of them, schedule permitting.

Also the divisions look fine, considering how much weaker the South looks right now that should help us rebuild.

I don't envy Utah, my team got a sweet deal with ESPN and lots of cash.
