So, Resident Evil 4 is pretty awesome. How awesome is it?? Way awesome. It is so awesome, that despite being more than 2 years old it still spawns an almost 100 page thread.
So, we will now continue to discuss quite possibly the best game that pits you against Chainsaw/Axe/Pitchfork weilding Spaniards.
1. Where the fuck is the PC port that had like a hundred release dates?
2. Is it true that RE5 is going to the 360 as well as the PS3? Cause, you know if it ends up on the 360 there goes one of the two major reasons I'd buy a PS3 (the other being, well, you know what it is).
Tzen, the phase between your avatar and the Royksopp tune I'm listening to is very slight... for about five or six plays of the animation I kept seeing zombie heads explode right on beat 1, in time with the music.
I loved that line. It's what I would have said. Because frankly it's the truth. "Look you fucking L. Ron Hubbard wannabe, there's only one of me and I just killed your little psycho-shrimp and about a thousand of your mutant zombies along the way. By my fucking self. With a fucking handful of small-arms. You are small-time."

Can I get a link to that one video that start the Meme?
I need to show it to a friend or two on thursday.
Also, Minethrower. Worth it?
It's like the one weapon I haven't touched. Not even with a ten foot pole.
I don't have access to my CG memory card for a few weeks, so I've just been starting over and over again, because it is so much fun. Usually starting a game over is something I dread, especially if I've beaten it. Several times.
And I STILL don't feel like I've perfected the village intro.
Going with what VC said, I didn't think any of the game dialogue was "cheesy". More like awesome.
chainsaws are the yikes though, i've lost my head like a million times already.
I love it when the chainsaw goes through Leon's shoulder, and he is all making a feeble attempt to push the blade away but it is just cutting through his hand and Chainsaw guy looks him dead in the eye and with a final thrust FRRRRAAAWWWRR!! Leon's head falls off.

I've only seen it 3 times (once when I was playing and then twice while watching a friend) where Leon's head just comes clean off. No vain struggle, no blade to the chest, just a quick swip from the Dr. and suddenly Leon's on his knees and dead.
I think it happened to me when I was busy holding off a bunch of villiagers. I hear chain rev up but I don't care much as I got a dozen pitchforks, torches and sycths in my face. Then I hear a revving and I wonder "How close is he?" -SWIPE-
"FUCK!"

RE - Mikami, without Kamiya to fall back on = wait to see the train wreck.
I'm sure the final product will be very good. I don't expect anything for a long time though and I think it's silly EGM and other sources still talk about the game as if it's actually going to come out within this decade. I fully expect another situation like what happens with most all the major RE games wherein they scrap entire builds, change the direction they're taking the game in many times, etc.
On the upside we'll hopefully get a Devil May Cry-caliber surprise (this was RE4 for a while) somewhere along the way.
After RE4 being, well, what it is, I don't think they're going to let anything less than stellar get released with the name Resident Evil 5 on it.

The most fun I had with this game was getting more involved in using the melee attacks periodically. A shot to the face, run up, kick or whathave you. Try to conserve ammo even though it wasn't necessary. I had fun learning new ways to use the environment. It took some getting used to that, yes, you could jump out of pretty much any window and keep running.
I'm considering buying it for the PS2 as well as the GC Just for the silly extra nonsense.

The number of 3D action games I can tolerate the existance of is not high. Yet RE4 is blatantly one of the best games I've ever played. I might actually get the PC version (seems mid-April now) just to see if my current PC can be bamboozled into running it at all.
Shame the PC version didn't come out sooner, as the Mercenaries mini-game would surely have drawn in a mod community. Now it'll be like the super late RE2 port where the only PC exclusive content will be a nude Saddler model.

Zone of the Enders 3?
I really need to getting Mercenaries finished. I've completed story mode a half a dozen times but never got around to finishing Mercs.

Well, the PC port looks like Half Life. Can your current PC handle such?
Ok, a bit further in my red9/blacktail/punisher only run, and some observations:
Ok, as one can tell from just outright buying the guns after beating the game with leftover cash, we all know the stength of the red-9 is it's raw damage output and the fact you get it earlier, while the blacktail's advantage is that it fires way faster and reloads faster as well. Well, using both guns at once on a standard playthough has caused me to be convinced of additional reasons that the Red 9 is superior: it gets it's better upgrades sooner. There was a long strech during the castle (particularly the middle of chapter 3 on on though chapter 4-1) where the blacktails firing/reload rates are not appreciably better than the red 9's. (this ceases to be an issue around chapter 4-2 or 4-3. Now I basically favor the black tail over the red 9, because, damn, those gasmask fuckers are fast) Yes, eventually the blacktail is superior in it's own ways, but on a normal playthough, one isn't going to be able to switch guns all that much (due to losses on upgrade vs. selling price issues) and you;re going to need the better gun sooner rather than later. This is enough to make the Red 9 versitile enough to be the best handgun in the game.
Also, a note about blacktail usage: it fires really damn fast. This is pretty cool, but unfortuantly, a faster firing rate means more missed shots, usually. Thusly, thusing the Red 9 forces you to learn how to aim, another testament to it's awesomeness. Also, it's what the pistols in Starwars are modeled after, so there.

I really don't think so. The big problem with RE4 was that they were determined to reinvent the series but with RE5, they don't have that problem. I expect RE5 to be released in 2008.
On another note, RE4 > Gears of War. Anyone agree?
So Ubisoft have improved the original PC port by turning the contrast levels up and up'ing the brightness. Genius!
Did anyone actually hold off on playing it on GC and then again on PS2 because of the PC version? It pains me enough that so many waited for the PS2 port, while one of the finest titles of our time sat on shelves sweating awesomeness through the box it lived in, never mind the wait for this PC version.
If you are one of those peoples then shame on you, you've missed a great moment in gamey history. Twice.

I waited until I either bought a Gamecube or it came out on PS2, whichever came first. So I have it on PS2.
Ahhhhhhhhhhh, I don't want to read this cause I am not done with the game. After waiting for hte PC port, said fuck it and bought the GC version. And it's liquid sex.
I am almost done with it (I think?), I just passed the mine car part. Sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much fun.
I have never had this much fun having to turn off the game cause the sun went down.
SO good.
And yes, I will take Resident Evil 5 soon, thanks!

The scene I am talking about is on some of the RE4 promo art. You know the one with the chainsaw guy cutting Leon. That actually happens in game.
I don't know what happens to trigger it, I've only seen it a couple of times. All I know is the good doctor has to attack you from the front.

Woah, seriously? I am so going to sacrifice myself to the good Doctor over and over, because I've never actually seen it happen.
My friend lent this to me for my Wii with a Wavebird telling me it was the 2nd coming and shit.
I'm greeted with terrible brown textures everywhere, zombies in some town I could give a shit about, zero backstory, and I get dumped somehwere in romania with a pistol.
Right.
Terrible camera, stupid "upgrade" weapons for purchase (I just killed the merchants anyway, wow yay for realism there's zombies and you accept currency) just a terrible, terrible game.

You...you should grab a shield. You are so misinformed. How long did you even play the game? Sounds to me like you messed around for about ten minutes.
