Note: Not a "I had this kickass dream" thread. More like a "save me from myself" thread.
So I was having a pretty vivid dream last night. I was trying to stop someone from blowing up a building and in said dream I attempted to punch him. My right hand was blocked and I connected with my left.. and when I woke up I realized I had punched my fan, nearly knocking it over.
I really don't want this to happen ever again. I also fear this might not be the first time I have done this because my fiancé says that I make contact with her when I sleep sometimes and I wake her up. Is this a common thing, what's going on with me?
Seriously, it's probably stress. I do some wacky things in my sleep when I get stressed as does a friend of mine: she cooks and eats entire meals in her sleep. I just walk around telling stories and wake up on the potty.
Short term solution is maybe some pills to make you sleep harder but you may want to see a physician.
One time my cousin sat up, totally asleep at a sleep over when we were about 10 and mumbled something about Tyson. Then he punched my brother. When we grabed him he woke up and was very confused.
As far as I know he doesn't beat his fiance in his sleep these days. I think you will be fine, probably a one off kind of thing.
Everyone rolls around in there sleep a bit. I've accidentally hit and been hit by my girlfriend flailing around in our sleep, but nothing serious. So, again, you will probably be fine.
and I wonder about my neighbors even though I don't have them
but they're listening to every word I say
Well, I wouldn't say "fine" if you aren't aware of it happening before. Again, very probably stress. I would caution you to maybe have that looked into but not to worry overmuch about it. I only say that because my sleepwalking eventually started including clawing my way through drywall walls.

Well, I'm not suggesting that it isn't potentially a problem, but for every one clawing their way though drywall sleep walker there are probably a million one off times of guys punching a fan.
You live with your fiance, I'm sure she will tell you if things start to get weird, but I don't think currently there is any need to go see a doctor right now.

If you're seeing the doctor anyway I would absolutely bring it up. If not... up to you. I seriously doubt you will actively hit your fiance if that's the concern. Sleepwalking episodes rarely repeat their content.
Very early in our marriage, I knocked the fuck out of my wife while having a fighting dream. She tried to wake me up... I rolled over fast and decked her in the jaw. Never woke up at all.
It took a long time the next morning to convince her I was asleep...
One other time in 16 years I've done something like that. She got out of bed and poked me with a hanger until I flew out of bed ready for battle... Far safer!
I have a lot of sleep related issues, but I've never punched anyone or anything. I have, however, had sex while completely asleep and have a long, fun history of sleepwalking. It's fucking terrifying to hear that you did something the next morning, so I can certainly empathize with what you are going through. It's very possible that this will never happen again, but if it happens again within the next 3-4 weeks, you might want to schedule an appointment with a doctor. If yours is like mine, they will tell you to just deal with it if it's infrequent enough and isn't causing problems in other areas of your life.
I once punched my pregnant ex in the face during a dream. Turns out, she is also a socipath, so it may have been my subconscious working something out.
I wouldn't worry about it unless this because habit.

Ask your fiancee if there is a continuing pattern.
Patter = see medical help
1 or 2 outliers = Chill out.
I hate broccoli but when I was 5, i sat up in my sleep and started chewing it. My mother was tickled pink.
Thanks for all the advice so far.
