Does anyone know this game? : Basically I remember playing it when I was 7 years old in China in 1987 but none of my search queries come up with anything remotely similar. It is third person army shooter game and the perspective is from behind a character that faces forward (when it is two players there is one player on each side -left and right). The avatars hide behind walls to defend from attacks that are coming at you from the top of the screen basically. The entire environment is static -- it doesn't move. But yes it is an army game -- possibly vietnam war type theme. I believe the arcade version actually had a trak-ball controller but I'm not sure. Does anybody know this game????

    Could it be Cabal?

Operation Wolf? That had guns that you shot with though.

Were they light guns (on a cord, like House of the Dead) or directional guns (basically a gun shaped twisting joystick pointed at the screen, like T2 the arcade game)?

Wow! It looked a LOT like CABAL (sorry I should have specified it was not at all a shooter game with an actual gun controller). I wonder if there was a similar game that came out at the same time -- or maybe my memory of it is distorted. it might be CABAL. it looks pretty similar.

    Ikari Warriors?

Yeah, this could be it. You could twist the joysticks to rotate your torso shoot in different directions. Classic!

I forgot about Cabal! You could shoot down the houses and barriers, right?

EDIT: I guess I could bother to watch the video.

Hmm, I just spoke with my sister and she says it looks a bit different too. It is VERY similar to CABAL but I think the avatars were bigger on the screen and the color was more realistic. but it is really similar (even the way the buildings collapse is the same). i think the avatars were more clearly soldiers too. any more ideas? thanks for all the help!

    Devastators?

Because it's somewhat like Cabal but slightly more realistic although it does have the aspect of running forward. (The youtube footage is messed up, as the screen aspect on the arcade machine was different.) You say the environment doesn't move though... And there's no trackball. So, perhaps not, but figured I'd field it as a possibility. *shrug*
