Nintendo Wifi + USB = poppoppoppop

This seems to be so easy but I've found nothing. My google powers are weak today. Anyway, I bought myself one of those Nintendo USB connectors to get my DS and Wii online. Works like a charm, except whenever one of them connects a quote bubble pops up above my system tray that says "A user is connected to the Nintendo WiFi USB Connector." And by pops I mean "makes an audible pop noise that is really annoying." It wasn't so bad with just the DS, but when the Wii is in WiiConnect24 mode it pops like every minute, annoying me greatly.

Obviously I could turn off WiiConnect24, but I'd like to keep the option of having it open in case Nintendo decides to do something useful with it at some point in the future. So really I'd just like to make the thing stop popping up the bubbles, but the tool itself seems to have no way to shut it off. Is there any way I can deny sound access to this program or something similar?

Is the sound coming from Windows or the dongle program?

    Easiest fix:

    Go to Control Panel

Open up Sounds and Audio Devices

Disable the sound for 'System Notification'.

Now you'll have no sounds for any popup bubble notifications.

    WINNER!

Why didn't I think of that? anyway, this thread is done.

Is there a way to make that bubble stop appearing entirely? It is really annoying with WiiConnect24.

That one I have no idea about. I couldn't get the dongle to work correctly with the Nintendo software, so I configured it to think it was a wireless access point. It still works like crap though, heh.
