no problem.
Otaku, additional driver updates and diagnostic utilities can be downloaded from here. Give me a sec and I'll try to find an update for your network card.
A desk isn't soft and doesn't conform to the shape of the laptop. The lappy has small feet that slightly elevate it when sitting on solid surfaces; also it can sink into blankets and block the exhaust port on the back (or side, can't remember on your model).
Buh? I don't understand what this means in relation to my post Fram.

A desk isn't soft, doesn't compact around the base of the computer, and it doesn't retain heat nearly as much as a blanket on a bed does.
Also, when using it at a desk I usually recommend a thin piece of wood (even a pencil or something if you don't have anything else - a thin novel works, too) to prop up the back slightly to allow even a little bit of ventilation.
Otaku, can you go to your system hardware manager and find out what type of network controller you are running?

also, as another little tip regarding laptops - don't close the lid while the machine is running for any length of time - lots of laptops vent a lot of their heat through the keyboard, which means that a lot of heat suddenly becomes trapped, right up against your screen. Not good.

What the fuck does sweet have to do with old? God, you kids today make no damn sense. When I was in 'nam blah blah blah blah blew off my left testicle blah blah blah blah blah raped an entire village singlehandedly including the livestock blah blah blah.
Let it run. Reboot from time to time to see if the error is gone. It very well could be.
First boot on a BIOS update isn't always the best; it could've been a leftover hiccup.
Actually it was more of a double reboot running simultaneously, the first was running to remove some startup programs, second was to run the BIOS update since I apparently didn't have enough flash memory to run it at the time.
Rank - yeah, I can do that, just tell where I need to go to get that info.

Druhim! Fuck!
Remember the SAT's? Think back, real hard. They were probably the SVT's back then, I don't think they had vowels yet.
Remember those comparison things they would have? Like "goat:mammal::Iguana:_____"? Right? Relationships, Dru. Relationships.
See, what I did was like "sweet things:sweet people::old things:________"
And then you're supposed to go "Well, let's see, sweet things, sweet people, so I guess old thing would go with old peo-hey, wait, oh Fram, you card."
But you went and fucked it up with your Alzheimer's! God dammit!

In 1901 they invented this test called the SAT, that had these "analogy" questions.
I guess you had already finished school by then.

okay, right-click My Computer and click on properties. Click on the hardware tab and look at the graphic below to find the network card.
spoiler for big
Right click on the network card, then look at the next graphic to find the driver version. Report back with the type of card and the network version. Thanks.

i think it's now clear that Lord Dave is just Fram's alt. Thanks for taking the bait faggot.
I can't be a faggot if I'm Framling and Lord Dave.
I'd be double married to two ladies, and that's super manly.

I think the really inexplicable part is Druhim not knowing what sweets for the sweet meant. I mean, that's a pretty old phrase. I know I first heard it from my mom, and she was pretty old. I'm pretty sure I've heard it from my grandma.

Curses! You've ferreted out my secret. I'm actually only 18 years old and have Werner Syndrome.
Is that like
"Sauce for the goose?"
Because I'm old and I've never heard of it either.
Wait, how old are we talking? Shot off my testicles in WWII get off my lawn old? Or just, old enough to drink and drive and solicit sex in Nevada?

Concerning the heat issue, how does a desk help any better?

Sweets for the sweet, old poop for the old poop?
He said it.
I run two P3 733 machines at home. There's nothing wrong with it.
Yeah, it's cool. Though I am ready to replace this dinosaur but it will probably be a couple of months before I can buy the system I want.
I'm saying you're old.
You get an old computer because you're old.
Old for the old.

the problem isn't likely to be the bios, but having it updated removes one possible vector for trouble.
Can you check to see what type of network card you are running?

Just like our house slave used to make!
Yeah it crashed twice again.
Same Driver error, but according to technical info, different .sys
Before it was cdrom.sys, this time atapi.sys
And the error didn't occur on reboot, just randomnly.
Thanks for all the help, but this shit is getting to be more trouble than it's worth. So fuck it, into the shop it goes.
Intel PRO/Wireless 2915ABG Network Connection
9.0.0.61
try updating the driver for it to the one found here.
Then reboot and see if it works.
Is this your only computer in the house?
There is an incredibly slight miniscule chance that it may be the IDE controller (due to cdrom.sys and atapi.sys) but it's doubtful.
It sounds like you have some bad RAM that is putting things where they don't belong.
