Long story short I bought a new device and I was having trouble. Streaming across my network. I was changing router settings and ended up tinkering with a proxy setting. Router resets.

Changes save and I can no longer connect. Windows says

The Remote Device or Resource Wont accept the connection for everything. It's a belkin router. Is there perhaps a way to physically restore it to defult?a

Usually, there's an external reset button. What model of Belkin? There have been literally hundreds of Belkin router models made.

Yep, there should be a tiny hole, usually on the back of the router with "reset" imprinted in the plastic. Power it on and push a paperclip into that hole, you'll feel a button depress, just hold it for 10 seconds and it will be reset to factory defaults.

Okay found the hole and gave it a push. Unfortunately i've been getting DNS Server Isn't Responding Errors from the router. I'm going to try resetting just about everything and hopefully that will get me somewhere.

Thanks for the help folks. I forgot all about that tiny button.

Okay now it looks like my wired connection is kicking the bucket after 10 minutes or so. What the hell did I do ._.

edit: weird. i have one PC working now but nothing else does. I can open the router webpage but i'm getting DNS errors everywhere except for this machine.

What DNS are you using? Did you manually set it to something? A good test to see if it's the external DNS and not something you messed up is to try Google's DNS servers. It's IP address 8.8.8.8 an 8.8.4.4

It's always been automatic DNS. I'll try googles.

Make sure when you press the reset button on the back of the router, you hold it in for about 5-10 seconds. Just pressing it doesn't do a full reset, you have to hold it, but do not hold it too long. That SHOULD reset everything to factory default. If that doesn't solve your problems, then I would suggest uninstalling the NIC via device manager (Both wireless and ethernet), restarting, and letting Windows reinstall the drivers. If that doesn't work, try these two commands in command prompt (as administrator):

    netsh winsock reset

    and

    ipconfig /flushdns

Be sure to press Enter after each line to ensure they go through. I would've put those in spoiler tags, but I saw that you were browsing from a phone. Not sure how mobile devices handle spoiler tags.

Well I did everything except for netsh winsock reset. Gave up on it and just left one PC directly connected to the modem. Restarted everything this morning and it finally worked.

I have no idea what solved it but thank you all for the help. Not sure if the Ipad can connect to the internet yet but after that strange and frustrating ordeal i'm just going to cut my loses. Thanks for all of the advice.
