Do I have any repair solutions or is this a 'throw it out and get a new one' scenario?

Yeah... you'll probably have to replace it. You could always call up a couple of the shops in town and see if you can get an estimate though.
Garry: I know you gentlemen have been through a lot, but when you find the time I'd rather not spend the rest of the winter TIED TO THIS FUCKING COUCH!
I know a guy that does electronics repair. He pretty much just tells people to not bother bringing in a TV for repair as the components are typically as or more expensive than just buying a new TV.

If the components aren't, then the components + labor to replace them definitely will be.

Sell it for parts and then buy a new lcd tv. It's better to get something then nothing for it.
Since the screen's busted it's a loss. If the tubes\LEDs had burned out or had the inverter gone you'd have some recourse. TV repair guy would charge you enough to replace those items that you'd probably just decide to buy new, but if you were careful and used to prying open electronics you could replace tubes\inverter board. You may or may not have luck flogging those parts on ebay.
