I got the chance to try out a few headsets today at PAX, and realized that speaking into my logitech USB webcam from five feet away really isn't doing it. I liked the Astro headsets' microphones, since they seemed to do well at capturing only my friend's voice over the noise of the expo hall.
I'm planning on buying a sufficient adapter and cable from Monoprice or something similar to actually get the mic itself running into my computer, but as for securing the thing, I'm lost. Suggestions?
(Also, would someone please post the code for having text go directly to a link? It no longer appears to be included when just using the Link button, and I never memorized it before.)
I go through headphones relatively quickly, it's gotten to the point where I don't buy gaming headsets any longer, most are simply too cheaply made. A good quality pair of headphones and a mic that I hotglue onto the side work fine
I just hotglue a female female 3.5mm coupler onto the side, then plug the mic into the bottom, and a male-male 3.5 extention cord into the top, good to go. Just make sure you find a good position for the coupler with the mic on it, where you want the mic to hang down etc. before you glue.
