Bring a book because you will be sitting back in the hotel a lot.

Wait, how late does PAX itself go? I am used to cons ending panels at 1ish and floor activity at 3ish. AM, of course.

I think you missed my point. PAX East rule of thumb of carousing outside the convention is, under-21? Sucks for you buddy.

The point he's making is that if there are convention things still going on that late, he can do that instead of sitting in his hotel room.

I had a pretty good time without drinking; just hanging around and playing boardgames with attendees.
Being under 21 will limit you when searching for a decent hotel that will check you in. I'd take an older friend or two with you to PAX to offset that.

    I don't think I'm a convention person.

    I'm with ya Keith

the convention puts me in a mood. I have a much better time doing things outside of it

I like the panels but the lines were ridiculous this year. Also it was difficult to find where to stand.

I'm gonna start looking into going to PAX East, but my company might pull a "fool me twice" type thing, making me have to foot the bill.

But I might be moving soon and so saving like $250/mo, making that totally plausible!

Personally, I find the less time I spend in the expo hall, the more fun I have at the convention, usually wandering the halls with pick up groups of peoples.

Between PAX and my hospital visits, I basically (literally) have no vacation from now until the end of time.

So I have no idea if I will make PAX east.

When I attended PAX 2009 I was 20, but instead of going to the bars @DoubleHawk00 and I went & saw Jurassic Park playing at a local theater with some other forumers. There are activities to be had for those under 21, just expect to not being hanging out with a huge amount of people.

They... they make you use vacation time for hospital visits?

That is some bullshit right there

I got in later on Friday, but even so I probably didn't spend more than half an hour total on the actual expo floors, and I feel like that was the appropriate amount of time.

Actually that might be a little higher since I stopped to play Renegade Ops for like 10 minutes, but that was totally worth it (and no waiting in stupid line!)

I walked around the hall, played the dance games, spoke to the Jurassic Park guys and then went to go drink.

This was pretty much the same for all three days.

Not unheard of. I get 20 days of paid time off per year, not counting holidays. If I get sick instead of being able to spend those days on a beach or at PAX, well, sucks for me.

Unless I was vomiting I have always worked while sick.

But it isn't fair to compare my level of sickness with someone like Munkus'.

I've never been punched by God.

Um...I'm a first year associate. The fact that I got any time off was fantastic. And it's not like the work stops and the deadlines extend when I'm gone.

I was putting in 12 hour days before PAX just to try and get everything caught up.

I kinda had my fill of the expo floor by the end of Friday. Saturday was pretty much entirely panels, and I used Sunday as my last chance to wait in line and see shit.

Mind, all of those days I pretty much spent at least some time either buying stuff or finding swag.

This is how I roll at every other con, so at PAX it sounds like I will fit right in.

I went to work today, but I didn't get much of anything done. The pain has been so intense that I can't read or write without pain meds. So I sat and organized things and I'll be making up the time on the weekend for certain.

Even panels, there were maybe 3 I wanted to see and I got into 1 of them. The time was just absorbed by doing other things which were as fun.

And once again, I'd like to thank everyone for making this one of the best PAXes I've been to yet. It means a lot to me to see all you guys, hang out, and have fun. Next year I'll hopefully be on the mend and be kicking all ya'lls asses at everything.

Psh, when you need to ask somebody how to eat chicken with two forks, you'll be glad I blazed the path.

    So, never, really.

Also, things you do when your friends are out drinking, and you are underage include, but are not limited to...

Panels, Tabletop, talk to people, collapse in Handheld, wander around, make posts, sleep.

I'm glad I had my car and you didn't have to take a cab because who wants to do that when you can ride in a sweet fucking Mini.

Also there are N7s on everything I own.
