I've seen these types of things die pretty fast- but I thought I'd try anyway
Ok, so I was wanting to sketch a creature the other day, but I couldn't think of any ideas for one. So I told my flatmates to give me two animals and I'd make them have sex... not literally... just in my head... wait.... not like that, I mean...
Anyway heres the deal, in the tradition of Conceptart and possibly thousands of other sites- this a creature design thread.
However there is a rule, the beast you develop has to be inspired by the rough combination of two creatures in nature- two real creatures that is.
What I want to happen here is that someone draws a creature and then nominates two creatures to have babies. You don't get to suggest a beast unless you have drawn one. You can choose to draw any of the suggestions that people have made in the past, but you can't give a suggestion unless you have drawn one yourself.
... did that even make sense?
Heres a quick example to start this thing off, the creatures I had were an CROCODILE and an ELEPHANT
Now go draw the product of a FROG and a MONKEY

Oh, and if Beerfest taught us anything, it's that frogs and monkeys fused together do not go over well.
I wish I could tell you why - I'm not exactly sure - but I just feel that they seem slow.
I've watched videos elephants running (with elephants being the clear inspiration for the legs), but perhaps I'm internalizing the rather lumbering gait they have.
In the end it's a well-constructed image, but I just feel somehow like the legs are wrong. I hope that doesn't sound like a meaningless or useless criticism...I like the critter in general.

i mean, why would he have to run fast? look at that thing.
id love to see a normal croc with a super-long elephant snout just looking sad about the life jesus made for him.
Mmmmmm, creature design!
Has anyone called the Fronkey? Monkog? I dont' care, I'm doing one.
I have a piece of work that is a mix between lizard and man... like a humanoid lizard with a tail and reptile head... but it's been done in 3ds Max not hand-drawn...
The design's great, though. I really like the tusks.
somebody get to work on a giraffe/octopus.
I kinda want to redraw this guy now. I don't like the lumpiness of the original.

that's fucking great.
Well.. it's clearly not finished, but I don't have the time right now. I'll try to clean it up later on. (the one above mine is waaaaay better anyway )

Oh, and Monkey and Scos totally win this thread. totally
i'm so proud of myself.

that's wonderful. it has made my life and knocked the PA fat-man balloons off my desktop wallpaper.
my request?
Ferret + Peacock
How do you get smooth as hell shading Scos? I've been abusing my blender varients in Corel and I haven't gotten a result as close as yours.
I've lived in Texas for a little more than 12 years and I've yet to see an armadillo.
parabbit attack?
meh..
what about a cheetah mixed with a sloth..to make an animal of horribly average running abilities?
crab+ horse?
Nice armawolf.... but I think a wolfadillo would look better, y'know? :P
