Me. France. An American iPhone. (Fixed Itself) (Lock Please)

Yes, I know there's a thread in Moe's no has looked at in two weeks though. So, here we go.

So, here's my question. I'm in France right now for four months. Got my Gevey Ultra Sim, got my Mobicarte, got my American iPhone4 unlocked and working here.

I bought the unlimited data for the month, but I was told while setting up (on an unofficial online help page) that I needed to turn of 3G and cellular data while doing the setup. Should I turn them back on now? I'm terrified of accidentally doing something wrong with this. And I'm having some issued with the APN setup. I'm getting a lot of different answers from different sources, but I need the APN name, password, and username for Orange Mobicarte in France.

And another quick question. I added my friend's French number into my phone (in her contact info) and texted her, it worked, but the reply came from from the same number with the country code (33) in front of it and her name wasn't displayed. Why? I've had to have two numbers under each contact. One for calling out (sans the 33) and one for incoming so I can see who they are.

It's fine, you just need that APN information. You can't use data without it, and once the french SIM is in, it's all on that account. Just go into an Orange shop and get them to sort it out for you. Hunting around for those online things is maddening.

Edit: Wait, I'm with Orange France. Hang on, I'll see what APN details I have.

    Orange FR
    APN orange
no proxy, port, username, password, server, MMSC, MMs proxy, MMS port
    MCC 208
    MNC 01
    Authentication type None
    APM type internet

    Orange FR MMS
    APN orange.acte
no proxy, port, username, password, server
    MMSC http://mms.orange.fr
    MMS proxy 192.168.10.200
    MMS port 8080
    MCC 208
    MNC 01
    Authentication type None
    APM type mmes

Edit2: The SIM should just know that shit though. I'm using a UK phone over here, and it was all fine and dandy once I shoved my new SIM in.

I think it might be because I just ordered the internet max and I have to wait for it to kick in or something?

EDIT: On second thought, that shouldn't be it. It should work, but drain the shit out of my account. I just can't access it at all. Maybe I'll take it into the Orange store tomorrow and try to hack it out in my terrible French.

That didn't work. I went to the Orange store and they told me to call the tech line. The tech line talked to me like I was an idiot, told me to clear my cache, and if that didn't work, it was my problem. Fun.

The message I'm getting is ""Could not activate cellular data network. You are not subscribed to a cellular data service". Orange says they can see that I'm using an iPhone (via their network) and that I have the Internet Max plan. I'm stumped.

So, still no data for some reason. If anyone has any ideas, I'd love to hear them.

Can I recommend you enjoy your abroad experience by using the anglophone Internet as little as possible? We'll still be here when you get back, if a little less well-advised.
