Spotify has been available in the US for a little bit and it's awesome. You can sign up for an invite on the site or sometimes it lets current users give out invites so someone here can hook you up. I signed up via the site and got an invite the next day.
It's a program for your computer and phone that lets you listen to most of the music that's out there for free and basically as soon as it's released. Every now and then it'll play an ad or two for you, but I've found it to be loads better than Pandora in that way. There's no "skip limit", you can listen to the same track as much as you like, play whole albums, create playlists and more. It also plays the music you have on your computer so you don't have to switch back and forth between iTunes or whatever. And it scrobbles to your last.fm!!
Speaking of playlists, you can share your custom playlists just by right-clicking on them and clicking "copy HTTP link". It's that easy! And since it's so easy, we can make some mixtapes for those of us that have Spotify!!

but I haven't really used it much because I have a pandora subscription and I don't like making playlists very much.

I love that station but I hate it because of their commercials that are 90s songs but end up with them singing "90s on 9!!" instead of the actual song and they're always songs I love and then they play something crap instead
yeah, I wish it had an ad-supported mobile app, but I like to have my playlists in the gym and so I just treat it like a Netflix account
