Even after watching the vid, I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around multiplayer bullet time. So if I'm in someone else's field of vision, and they hit bullet time; do I go into bullet time too, or does the game freeze while I get shot? Neither one of those sound very fun.
everyone in the line of sight is put into bullet time. two things, one: it sounds like a limited use ability, won't happen all the time. two, the game john woo's stanglehold has bullet time in online, except handled much worse. this looks a thousand times better.
Sounds like what they did in The Specialists years ago, more or less, with slowmotion powers.

Yeah, I preordered the Big Statue Edition. The one-two-three punch of McCaffrey returning, that animation system (oh god that rolling shotgun pickup in the MP trailer ) and the interesting-looking multiplayer was too much to resist, and the statue looks cool.
Will the single player be short? Probably. The first two were short, too. I can blow through them in about 4 hours apiece. That said, I've played the first 2 a good 30 times combined, so I can deal with short so long as my next reaction after beating the game is "WELP, time to play it again RIGHT NOW".
I just hope, and I know it's not something they're going to advertise because it wasn't advertised in the previous games, that there's some quality gallows humor in Max Payne 3. And that the ending can affect me the way the non-DOA ending+credits of Max Payne 2 did.
Sounds like what they did in The Specialists years ago, more or less, with slowmotion powers.
This made me feel so awesome inside to hear people still talking about that game. I'm That One Guy from the old TS community and helped work on version 2.1.
I really do need to get a thread going about the spiritual sequel in development called Double Action: Boogaloo being made by a bunch of old The Specialists guys.
Oh wow, I didn't expect MP3 multi to look that cool...
Neither did I.
I just realized that MP3 has been announced for over 2 and a half years. 2 and a half years since the debut of Heisen-Payne. It's coming together a lot better than I could've hoped from those first screens.
The only bad thing is that this game comes out, and then a week later Dragon's Dogma comes out

I was planning on waiting a month or whatever it is for the PC version, but after thinking about it, Rockstar has a pretty bad track record of giving proper support to their PC titles so I may just get it on the 360.
Are you the magic man?

My PC is nowhere near good enough to run this.
But I'd be heavily considering upgrading and buying MP3 if a robust mod community pops up around it.
Visuals are so so but the gameplay looks really fun
Seconded.
Being artistically inclined, however, I take more issue with the visuals. With today's technology, Rockstar's power, the noir theme and Sao Paolo backdrop, they could have delivered something really special, art-wise. Lighting and colouring is pretty uninspired. Incidentally, the classic Max scenes in this latest trailer have the more stylish settings.
And that voice over plain sucks.

God, I still love Max Payne 2 with all my heart.
"There was one last thing to do..."
"I was compelled to give Vlad his gun back. One bullet at a time."
I unabashedly love that line. Such a great start to the final level.
PC specs are out. They're a little...well, not little.

Either this game has monstrous, hungry resources or we're in for another shitty Rockstar port.

So, Gamestop's doing their 'PREORDER AND GET THIS THING' video. Really the only notable things are that it looks like Paynekiller mode will use different Max models for different settings, and the first use of the Max Payne theme in any of the trailers out so far.
Does anyone know who did the comic scenes for MP/2? I found and was reading through an old Havok & Wolverine mini-series called Meltdown today and thought the artwork looked an awful lot like what's used in the first two MP games. Am curious if it's coincidence or if the art team for that mini-series worked on the MP games.
Im confused by the specs because the difference between high and low end is redonkulous. they could have condensed

Considering this is built of the GTA engine, where GTA4 was notorious at being an unreasonable hog on the PC, and their history of PC ports this generation -- all of two games, both of which were shit ports -- I'm not holding breath this thing is going to be a swell experience on the platform. The absolutely and patently ridiculous 'recommended' requirements is just telling.

The only reason I'd get the PC version is if Kung Fu Max Payne 3 comes out.
That sounds more like a list of supported systems. No game in the history of gaming has ever listed the most very recent video card (680gtx, only like a week old) as the recommended one.

Metro 2033 totally did for its "optimal" specs.
(FWIW, I think you're right now that I ponder about it a bit more, but it still doesn't leave me any less apprehensive about the quality of the port.)
I've yet to hear a single Max Payneish line of dialogue from the trailers. I'm waiting until I can watch a level played from start to finish before I touch this.

Wow, TOGSolid. It's an honor to stand in your presence. Well, type in your presence.
I was sad that TS never got a spiritual sequel/remake in the HL2 engine--though by now, I have to admit, I'd be a lot less interested as well (given the other amazing engines out there). We were quite close for a while, I think. Almost...
And I've always loved a good modding community for any game. Have a TS Lobby match of Revy vs. Rikku vs. Inspector Tequila vs. Leon Kennedy? One of my favorite things ever.
EDIT: Double Action? Sounds exciting, but unless I can do Revy vs. Rikku vs. Inspector Tequila, it won't be the same thing. Get on it!
Don't fucking tell us your DLC plans before the game is out.

Today we're happy to announce Max Payne 3 downloadable content plans with a full lineup of multiplayer content planned for release this summer and beyond, starting with the Local Justice Map Pack coming in June. Players will also be able to order the Max Payne 3 Rockstar Pass to get all of the upcoming DLC at a special discounted rate, compared to purchasing each pack individually. Starting today, the Rockstar Pass can be pre-ordered for Xbox LIVE and PlayStation Network from Best Buy or GameStop in the United States (or pre-ordered for PSN directly from the PlayStation Store).
The Rockstar Pass grants you access to all upcoming Max Payne 3 DLC and will be available for 2400 Microsoft Points (Xbox LIVE), or $29.99 (PlayStation Network and PC) – over a 35% discount compared to purchasing the content individually. Once purchased, the Rockstar Pass enables gamers to download all DLC releasing through the end of 2012 via the in-game store as soon as it is made available on Xbox LIVE, PlayStation Network, or PC.
The Local Justice Map Pack, coming in June, will include the Police Precinct map for Gang Wars, Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch and Payne Killer multiplayer modes. The pack will also feature two additional maps for Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch and Payne Killer, new precinct-themed multiplayer avatar items, multiplayer challenges, and more.
Check out the current release schedule (individual release dates and pricing info will be announced soon) for Max Payne 3 downloadable content packs below and stay tuned for additional packs to be revealed at a later date:
June 2012
• Local Justice Map Pack
Summer 2012
• Disorganized Crime Map Pack
• Deathmatch Made In Heaven Mode Pack
• Hostage Negotiation Map Pack
• New York Minute Co-Op Pack
Fall 2012
• Painful Memories Map Pack
• Trickle Down Economics Map Pack
Thank you Rockstar for telling us if we want the entire Max Payne 3 experience, we need to pay $90 (game+season pass).
You'd rather they release the game, then go "oh damn, we might as well get cracking on that DLC!" and have to get everyone back into the office to start working on it from scratch (because if you've written a single line of code or even planned for the damned stuff beforehand, God help you, sunshine), creating all these new assets and stuff, so we can maybe start getting things out next year. Wait, we didn't even write the code in such a way as to easily accommodate this new stuff.. well that just makes things even more awkward! But we don't want to piss off Gamers! This is much better than starting to produce the content while everyone's already in the offices and working on producing content.

WHAAAAAAT....?
WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY
Even at free, this is not ideal. The PS2 version is pretty bad...
Pay like four bucks and get the Xbox version, it's playable on 360. If you can't play the PC version that is
Bolded for the only correct answer.
Seriously, get the PC version. Your computer can handle it. Your laptop can handle it. Hell, even your smart phone can handle it.
Basically, if your computer wasn't purchased at the store with Windows 2000 preloaded, it can run Max Payne with decent graphical options.
