But but but DLC is eeeeeviiiiiiiil, maaaaaaan.
I'm fine with multiplayer DLC, so long as there's a decent selection of maps on the disc.
Starting to see Max Payne 3 commercials frequently on TV! So close now, not only to this game but Dragon's Dogma as well. It feels like Holiday 2011 all over again

...at least only 1 of the 7 things appears to be actual content.
Sounds like what they did in The Specialists years ago, more or less, with slowmotion powers.
This made me feel so awesome inside to hear people still talking about that game. I'm That One Guy from the old TS community and helped work on version 2.1.
I really do need to get a thread going about the spiritual sequel in development called Double Action: Boogaloo being made by a bunch of old The Specialists guys.
Wow, TOGSolid. It's an honor to stand in your presence. Well, type in your presence.
I was sad that TS never got a spiritual sequel/remake in the HL2 engine--though by now, I have to admit, I'd be a lot less interested as well (given the other amazing engines out there). We were quite close for a while, I think. Almost...
And I've always loved a good modding community for any game. Have a TS Lobby match of Revy vs. Rikku vs. Inspector Tequila vs. Leon Kennedy? One of my favorite things ever.
EDIT: Double Action? Sounds exciting, but unless I can do Revy vs. Rikku vs. Inspector Tequila, it won't be the same thing. Get on it!
Lawl, I wasn't that major of a player on the team, I mostly spent my time in 2.1 yelling at everyone else from my dark little corner where I furiously raged at Notepad while I worked on weapon balance in countless playtests. Basically my job was to be always angry all the time and make gun porn. My name is in the credits though damnit!
In Double Action I don't really work on it in any fashion this time, now I just rant and rave like a lunatic and help shoot mans once in a while in playtests. I'll get a thread rolling about it in a few days here once I get home from work. It is open to the public to help though!
Yeah...what PC crap? There's no weird DRM is there?
Doesn't R* have a less than stellar reputation when it comes to PC versions of their games? Like GTA IV, for instance, took alot of voodoo rituals to get running acceptably on a PC?
Did Red Dead make it to PC?

No RDR but LA Noire made it on PC. Allegedly Max Payne 3 will have the same DRM structure as Noire; version on steam will be steamworks complete with achievements. Retail copies will have neither steam nor GFWL.

Pretty much this, though I did already play RDR on 360. I'm talking more the insane specifications, and this tangent they've had for GTA4 is extending to Max Payne 3, which is not a good prospect in my mind. Also, I'm not being completely serious. Would a man quoting Jesus Christ Superstar seem to be incredibly serious and blunt?
Maybe it's just me, yeah :P
Never really thought multiplayer would fit into a Max Payne game...

Yeah, it remains to be seen how fun it will be. They're definitely putting a lot of work into it, though.
I didn't think multiplayer really fit into Red Dead Redemption(other than the free roam stuff, which was a blast with friends), but it managed to be a good bit of fun. It was for too simple, though, and it looks like they're trying to expand on it in MP3.
Yeah, that Multi looks pretty awesome. I like the sound of the mode where you play as Max. The guy who gets the first kill gets to be Max, and his victim becomes the sidekick character. The best part is, its not who kills Max but rather the one who causes the most damage to Max that gets to be him next. Meaning, you don't have to worry about being in an epic gunfight only to have some guy come along and shoot Max once, stealing your kill and chance to be Max.

I didn't love Max Payne 1 and 2, but I'm very much excited for 3, assuming Rockstar keeps its stellar track record and turns this into the RDR equivalent of a Max Payne "sequel".
Problem is I currently have no idea which system to get this for. I recently found out the 360 version is 2 discs, and after LA Noire performing better on PS3, that might be the console of choice once again.
Then there's the PC version, to which Rockstar has not had as stellar a track record. I've heard bad things about LA Noire's PC port, including fixed 30 fps (ewww).
I might just wait for all three versions to come out and get opinions then.
That seems kind of odd that MP3 is on two discs. I mean, RDR was a massive open world game on one disc. Perhaps one disc is the campaign, and the other is multiplayer. Its cool if it isnt though, as long as we're not looking at Mass Effect 3 levels of disc swapping frequency...

Never got complaints about disc swapping. I mean, it takes like, two seconds. Three, if it's a cold day or if you have a panic attack from oh god the swapping.

Disc swapping is fine. Excessive disc swapping is annoying and breaks immersion a little bit. That being said, if MP3's campaign is broken up over two discs, I highly doubt there will be more than one swap required.

I'm still kind of annoyed at this whole "You can only carry three guns at a time." thing. Admittedly, I played through MP2 with naught but the twin Deagles and the Striker most of the time, but I liked having my whole arsenal there when I wanted it.

That kind of bites. But at least Rockstar's gremlins have taken my idea of "one med, one large, one small/one
Large, two small" weapon idea. I always wondered why Masterchief can't carry an assault rifle and two pistols with him at the same time.
(I use gremlins because I'm feeling surreal right now)

But he did. He totally did. Admittedly, switching weapons made you drop the other dual wielded weapon, AIRC.

They couldn't put another holster on his MJOLNIR armor? John McClane from Die Hard and Tim Roth from Resovoir Dogs had two holsters.

My concern isn't swapping discs, though, but any compression in video or audio that may result from a game that's too big for one DVD to handle.
FFXIII is one such example, with the 360 version having compressed pre-rendered footage. I believe LA Noire had an issue with compressed audio as well.
So yeah, unless there's some pre-release confirmation, I'll wait and see which of the three versions is best overall.
i plan to get it, but only because i got a gift card to spend. i love max payne, but this was going to be just a rental until i came into some free money. it all looks great but until i get my hands on it i don't know what to think.
The thread will probably pick up a bit after Tuesday. I'm really excited for it( I'm getting the CE with the statue!), but there isn't much to discuss until it comes out I guess.

Is this thread going to blow up next week or is this really the hype level for the game?
Max Paynes never really seemed like a SUPERHYPE kinda game. Also the new developer might have some of the fans sitting back and waiting for the feedback to start rolling in.
I'm hyped and game for any Crew-based shenanigans, though. Won't be shooting mans in multi until after I beat the story, but given the length of past Max Paynes I'm guessing I'll be online Tuesday night.

Edit: Pertaining to PC related bullshit and a little bit because of this DLC.

It has all the guns shown thus far in Max Payne 3. Those revolvers look mighty pretty, I must say.

What "PC related bullshit"? That's going to be my platform of choice for this game.

The fact they played it in the Gamestop commercial and right before breaks on the GT.TV special gives me hope, but still.
This makes me hopeful. Sounds like they're keeping with the Max Payne 2 cello theme.

As it's Rockstar is it just a given it will sell bucketloads but no one is really discussing it here?

Hoping to find them palatable enough on the consoles to get through both before 3 hits.
I'm getting it on Ps3, you can make crews now on rockstar social club or you can join premade ones. I'm down for a PA one, ill be playing on PS3.
