Can you help me remember the title of an old sci-fi movie?
I'm trying to track down an old movie, but I can't remember the name. It was black and white, sci-fi, from the 50s or 60s. Here is what I remember from the story (some of this might not be concrete):
A test pilot on an Air Force base is testing a new jet and it crashes. Even though it was a horrific crash, he wakes up with no injuries and is taken back to the base. He starts acting strange, talking about aliens, and people think he's paranoid. He thinks he was abducted by aliens while he was flying.
Somehow he ends up in the desert and finds an underground base that belongs to the aliens. They have giant insects inside of cages. The aliens are siphoning power from the power grid. They're planning on destroying the world, I think by having the giant insects attack people. The pilot escapes from the base, goes to either a power plant or a hydroelectric dam to try and send a power surge or something back to the alien base. The police and the Air Force are chasing him because they think he's crazy, and that sending a power surge will blow up the Air Force Base. He manages to get to the power plant and send the surge, and then everyone watches the alien base explode in the distance.
I know the plot details are kinda shaky, but if this sounds familiar to anyone please let me know.
Thank you. I remember now that the aliens basically had ping pong balls for eyes.
In case anyone wants to check it out, it's public domain now. There are a couple of torrents for it, and it's available to watch in full on Google Video or the Internet Archive.
