The Tommy Wi-Show Thread

I'm surprised this thread doesn't exist yet. Creator of The Room, the acclaimed writer, director and producer, Tommy Wiseau, has teamed up with Machinima to produce a web series about video games. And aliens. And probably other stuff. It's still the first episode. Here is the trailer:

The series started today, with the first episode being about Mortal Kombat.

I like to think that no one's talking about it because it's awful. It's almost like they actually managed to find the exact opposite of funny.

Ah, it stinks, it sucks, it's anthropologically unjust

There's something about the fact that he knows that he's terrible that really kills the humour.

Also, watching someone play MK that badly is something that I find incredibly painful.

I'm surprised he didn't say that when Sonya tore Kitana in half.

    ?

Didn't the Nostalgia Critic beat him to this over a year ago when Tommy Wiseau tried to get the review of the Room taken down?

    He's "acclaimed"?

I don't think you know what that word means.

Yeah, it's one of those things that is inversely funny when the guy knows what he is doing. Sort of like how "The House That Drips Blood on Alex" didn't make much of a splash.

    We'll always have The Room...

We don't WANT The Room. That was complete shit. It wasn't even so bad it's funny shit. It was literally the absolute bottom feeding depth of cinema. The very bottom. Hands of Manos is an Emmy winner in comparison.

I disagree. I found much humor in the many times I've seen The Room and showed it to others.

I have to admit I can't not enjoy anything Tommy Wiseau does. Between the Wiseau-isms, his bizarre accent, and just the raw absurdity of everything around him, it's just natural comedy. Then again I'm one of those people who's gone to see The Room in theatres (with plenty of alcohol). Being in a room full of drunk people all heckling the film (sometimes with Tommy Wiseau there cause he shows up to a few) is just an awesome experience.

Tommy Wiseau only strikes me as funny when he's trying to be serious, and that is the joke.

I agree with this. I've seen The Room (or the Nostalgia Critic review) plenty of times just from showing to people. Spreading the joy.

That's also what I am getting from this. The scripted stuff all seems a bit forced ("This is not my hooooouse!"), but his weird, random asides got me chuckling.

Yeah. There's something unnerving about him acting self aware. Worse that he's talking directly to the audience. It's just a little bit too close, I can only deal with Wiseau when he's safely cordoned off with layers of acting and fiction.
