Software to play media from a folder that is being constantly updated

Hey there!

Long time no asky. Here goes: I have a TV at home that I want to play random family videos that play constantly all day. I have a tiny nettop PC I will be using to output the movies, running windows XP. I'd like to be able to add videos to a folder, and without any further intervention have those videos play (order doesn't particularily matter, but I do want the videos to repeat ad nauseum).

Any suggestions will be kindly appreciated. Bonus points if I can have photos added to this as well, but I can imagine that will add quite a bit to the requirements.

Thanks in advance!

PS: List of immutable requirements:
TV as display
Nettop as computer
Must play videos repeatedly
Must be able to be updated fairly seamlessly (hopefully just drag+drop to media folder)
Other than that, totally open to any suggestions.

VLC has an Open Folder option. Select a top level folder and it will play any media underneath it. Click random and shuffle and it will loop, and also grab new files as you add them. I don't know if it can play photos... I doubt it. If you want to do photos I know that Picasa does slideshows and its library is 'live' so it would probably see new content as it is added in.

    Guys? Hay guys?

Thanks for the help. I'll look into that option, it looks to be what I'm trying to do.
