Trying to find an old childrens book

I was talking to a friend the other day and she was reminiscing about a book from her childhood. She wants to read it again, very badly, and I would like to find it for her and surprise her with it for her birthday later this month.

This is what I know about it:

+ Female author, I believe.
+ She would go around and take photos, and then put pixies in them somehow (either by physically putting a figurine of one in there or drawing it in, I'm not sure).
+ She would then write a story about that photo.
+ The book is apparently fairly tall and wide (but I'd imagine not very long since it was a children's book).

That's all I have. Hopefully it's enough to jog someone's memory!

Thanks so much!

I hate you and you hate me.

If it's not Lady Cottington's Pressed Fairy Book: Try sending an email with this description to Gary at Nerman's Books. He runs a used bookstore (which I used to work at) and was amazing at identifying books from ridiculous descriptions. The shop even specializes in old children's books, so he can probably get you the same edition your friend was likely to have read back in the day.

Thanks guys. It looks like it's pretty certain that it's what Esh linked to. I can't verify with her since I want it to be a surprise, obviously, but it meets everything I said and it was published around the time she would have read it. I found a new copy online for four bucks, and I'll just give it to her as a little surprise next week instead of as a birthday present, just in case it's the wrong book.

Thanks Dark Moon, I'll definitely save that link for later usage. I'm always remembering only the most obscure details about books and it kills me!

You should also note that there are four other books in the "series" (see: Customers Who Bought This Item Also Bought) It could be any one of them, but I'm sure she'll be happy.

Thanks guys. I received the book today, and I don't think it's what she was describing; it has fairies squashed between the pages, but not really anything more in the background. The way she was telling me, it seemed more like the author took a picture of something, and then drew the fairy into the scene and wrote a little story describing it.

The book I got is actually enjoyable, so I'm glad I'm got it, but I would definitely appreciate more suggestions for other potential books.
