Iphone 3GS updated to iOS5 missing custom ringtones (solved itself)

As the thread title says, I'm having trouble getting custom ringtones working on my iPhone 3GS now that I've updated to the new firmware/software/whatever. They worked just fine for the previous 2 years, when I check iTunes they all show up in my list of Ringtones, and I have iTunes set to update all Ringtones when my computer synchs with my phone.

A google search has mostly shown me people commenting on how to solve the problem on Macs. The solution of "select the file and make an ACC version" doesn't work for me, as that is greyed out for me.

I've tried resetting the phone, but that doesn't help either, and the ringtones aren't available to be assigned to the clock alarms as they were before, so it's not even just a matter of them not being available for incoming phone calls, but the phone doesn't seem to recognize them at all.

If I could just buy the tunes on the store I would, and 2 of the 3 are free! (2 are from Valve's Portal 2 free releases, and the third is the Still Alive Radio Edit from Portal 1, so it's not like I'm trying anything shady here)

Any assistance will be appreciated.

Update: weird, apparently today they transfer over just fine, along with a variety of sounds Valve made available. Phone updated, thread can be locked.
