So, I have a Canon Rebel XSi. I was doing a photoshoot yesterday. I have an 8GB Kingston memory card that I use.
Anyway, I've noticed this problem lately where the camera will say it is "busy" after a shot. Sometimes it will take 10+ seconds to become not-busy. During that time I cannot take another shot. It makes continuous shooting impossible.
It wasn't happening before. Any idea why? Could it be the memory card?
Formatting the card would be my first bit of troubleshooting, especially since it's so painless.
life's a game that you're bound to lose / like using a hammer to pound in screws
fuck up once and you break your thumb / if you're happy at all then you're god damn dumb
that's right we're on a fucked up cruise / God is dead but at least we have booze
bad things happen, no one knows why / the sun burns out and everyone dies

All I did was turn the camera off for a few seconds and then back on again.
But then, I'm not doing a photo shoot or anything dramatic like that.

The XSi tops out at 6 RAW frames before the buffer is full. You can shoot 3.5 FPS until the buffer fills, that's about 50 high quality JPGs, or 6 RAW.
Your only real option is switching to JPG if you know you're going to need more than a short burst of continuous shooting.
