I wanna go, Oh oh oh oh, To the late night, double feature, [Rocky Horror Picture Show]
So I got my virginity taken last night, SE++. My Rock Horror virginity, that is.
Because what better fun is there than going to a stupidly cheap midnight showing of a film that has been in its first box office run for almost four decades, and then adding a hearty dose of live theatre on top of that?
And I got a lapdance from both the girl who played the lips in the opening song, and the guy who played Rocky.
The best part was that I was on film the entire time, as part of a documentary on the DC area Rocky Horror community. My role? Being a Rocky virgin caught on film. So yeah, fun.
there wasn't anyone naked on stage at this one, but Janet's bra did lose control of a boob for a second
also there was plentiful use of a dildo as a prop so yeah
The first time I watched this was early in the year with my roommate at the time. She had seen it a bunch and had gone to showings. It had been a busy day so she fell asleep pretty early. But that was a shame because the in-the-pool lingerie shots really did something to me.
Not sure if I would get into the live performances too much, but it really was a great fun movie.
I enjoy the movie but have never been to a showing of any kind
it definitely sounds like ... an experience

My little brother's friend performed in a stage version of this a few weeks back and he went to watch the midnight performance (my little brother went)
Where does one go about findings showings for this? I feel like at this point, there has to be a centralized source for such a persisting cult community

Did you go to University Mall? My best friend is on cast, but she was out of town for this one... I think they cast her as Janet before she had to call out.
She keeps trying to get me to go whenever I visit but I don't really think it's for me.

yeah, Uni Mall. Small world. I heard a couple regulars were out for a few October shows.
I went to a midnight screening one time and that pretty fun but I cannot 100% get behind something where you're supposed to scream over and drown out one of my favorite movies of all time.
I still remember my first time. I believe I had a red V marked on my forehead with lipstick, and then I had to pop a balloon between the legs of...another virgin, I think. It was a long time ago, freshman year of college. I went with several girls who had already been several times...they threw me to the wolves.
I'll never forget Dr. Frank-N-Furter's intro when he steps out of the elevator. It's burned into my memory banks forever.
I went to Halloween Horror Nights and they had a Rocky Horror tribute and that was great. They performed the songs live and played clips from the movie, and people shouted during the clips, but respectively shut up during the performances.

Wait, do you mean Uni Mall across from George Mason? I've been to a show there once, because one of the PA meetups had someone that did it. It was more surreal with people in front.

I usually just google search it or end up seeing a flyer at some bar or theatre or other. If you're in a big city or a college town I'm sure it'll be on somewhere.

Screenings are literally the only way to watch this movie
The first time I saw it was in my basement with a few friends who had seen it before/were vaguely familiar with the whole fan culture
It was fucking awful
Then I ended up going to a screening kind of incidentally, and that was a lot more enjoyable
Note well, however, that there are multiple types of screenings
Some of them are better than others (I generally do not like anything done with a "shadow cast" as it becomes too masturbatory)
Yeah, me either. I love the audience participation but I don't need some other dudes pantomiming the actors.
I love the movie, though, and I'm not ashamed to say it.
I can enjoy people doing pantomime, actually
At the screenings I've been to, there have typically been people who have rehearsed the stuff on their own that hop on a stage to do some pantomime
The masturbatory nature of the shadow cast, for me at least, is all the people cast as extras/time warpers who just hang around the back and all shout the exact same call backs at exactly the same time
Or worse, at slightly delayed timing because they are too drunk to coordinate their lines properly

I love Rocky Horror but I've never been to a showing. I made my wife watch this a few months back and she enjoyed it so maybe sometime in the future.

I've never seen Rocky Horror, but I did see people dressed up as the characters standing around the National Mall taking pictures!
I don't mind the shadow cast at all, because damn they do some hilarious shit
but yeah the audience's little calls got annoying
I'm actually seeing it again tonight and dragging some friends along. Saturday nights are apparently much more packed (October is the only month where this cast does Fridays) so the experience should be different.

Done this a few times
it's great fun the first time, but really, you can't watch the same movie over and over every week, no matter who you're watching it with, and i often rewatch or relisten to the same things over and over
and yes the community for it is fucking shithole shambles
the movie is fun enough, it's got the memorable songs and weird people and it's fun, but yeah people get WAYYYY too into it

It was okay but very tiring and oh wow the idea of a community for this kind of thing
But I end up going to screenings of it at least once a year
I'm going to my first live production of the show tonight, 'cause I have a crush on a girl in the pit
it was in montreal
there were lots of naked people on stage
Dear satan I wish for this or maybe some of this....oh and I'm a medium or a large.
also there was plentiful use of a dildo as a prop so yeah
Not sure if I would get into the live performances too much, but it really was a great fun movie.
a burlesque company has been hired to perform during the show
it's going to be crazy
but I have never been to a screening and I've seen The Room at screenings like four times and I have a fucking blast every time there
so maybe that's the medium I need to view it in!
it definitely sounds like ... an experience

How long is this going on?
No idea, honestly. Can't be for too long.

I miss Bemis so much
