I'm kind of back and forth on the Catwoman issue.

On one hand, I really don't think its that big of a stretch to think that psychotic murders would be sexist and hurl those kind of insults.

On the other hand, I do think that they went a tad too far on the sex-o-meter. I mean Catwoman has always had a sexuality around her, but I did think the stuff like kissing dudes who looked like they haven't showered in three days and such was a tad bit much.

And gross...

It's not a personal attack mate. I edited in an explanation of subtle discrimination after that. I don't think you are doing it deliberately. Maybe a better way to say that would be I didn't naturally assume you were being intentionally harmful because it's not a commonly known issue and I wanted to talk about it to bring it up. You were just the person who triggered it. Could have been anyone.

Yeah. I think what @Morninglord is saying is that since gaming has been a boy's club for as long as it has and oversexualization has been pretty common theme in gaming for some time now, its at a point where a lot of people don't even really think about it and it seems harmless.

And I really don't want to turn this thread into another discussion about that when we already have a thread for it, but it really isn't that simple and it can be a lot more harmful than one might think.

I would say that playing as Catwoman makes me mildly embarrassed. I can ALMOST get behind her costume (as it makes some sense in relation to the character), but the thug's comments did bug me as did the lack of female inmates in general, AND I would say there was just kind of something... wrong with it all. As fun as she was to play as there was a sort of wrongness.

Note that they fixed up her costume in Armored Edition to some extent.

Maybe all it really would have taken was a slightly less deep neckline and a slightly less ass-hugging pant.

Remember those charges of sexism aimed at this game? Well, though for the most part I think they're off-base (can't expect Blackgate prisoners to be politically correct), Catwoman does nothing to challenge this notion. The literal first thing a thug says in this game during the intro is wanting to see what's underneath Catwoman's suit. And that's okay, for a criminal that's about to have the shit beaten out of him, but then you have Catwoman doing things like having a counter move where she kisses a random thug before slamming him to the ground. It's stupid. I get that Batman is silent in combat and it makes sense for him, but Catwoman should be similar to Spider-Man in being a barrel of wit in combat situations. Instead she simply takes all these sexually-charged insults (and there are a ton of them) with stone cold silence and a sexualized fighting style. It's...disheartening. I don't know if I'd want a full Catwoman game in that style, but if they changed the aesthetic and tone somewhere down the line, then absolutely.

Traversing the city was more fun with Catwoman than Batman, straight up

It was just annoying that while doing so with Catwoman, your intercom picked up messages repeatedly talking about how they were going to sexually assault her

Ok, i don't know exactly in what page you started to talk about AO... But i will say what i think.
First, something that i have SURE that was said here before... There new techs in AO and being a prequel that would not make sense... But, i have a theory after some thought...
First, this is not batman year one, is year two... So batman have trained from 14 to 20, and have being batman for two years (in AA he is batman for seven years).
So, no he not a newbie... Come one, two years of experience is nothing? Then seven years is nothing... We are talking about Bruce Wayne, he is a genius, period.
The gadgets... Well, some of then he could just not carried away because:
In AA he is stuck in the AA and in AC he is again stuck in AC... So he never planned to be in neither of the places.
But of course, i really think that they need to give the felling that he is less experienced in the same way that they give the felling that you are the batman (you have detective mode, predator mode, free flow...)
And also... I want to see two place, the Bruce mansion and the batcave... the real one.
Also, they can make some playable flashbacks (and then yes, you have to be less experienced)

they mentioned the differing tech/gadgets in one of the demos/playthroughs from E3. basically, he can't carry every gadget at all times*, and different gadgets are better suited for different tasks. they're not necessarily showing new gadgets, just ones that weren't used in the previous games.

*even in AC he has to call Alfred to get extra tech sent in.
