i've had a macbook pro for 5 mos now. i noticed the usb ports have a bit of corrosion on them (i actually noticed this two months ago and thought to clean it but i forgot). given this started when i lived by the beach, where the salt water air inevitably took-up residence in the ports, the bits of corrosion are tough to clean and there is now a light-colored, micro-thin, hard dust layer on top of it. my workstation is impeccably clean; i dust/clean all the time and i don't eat near the computer (no spilled drinks... etc.), but my new house is an older building and the environment sheds (hence the constant cleaning).
i've read about different methods of cleaning ports, but what in your opinion is most successful, and affordable? i don't have an air can, for one, but this needs a tool -- a toothbrush or qtip -- plus a liquid of some sort (i think) to loosen the corrosion layer. what do you recommend i should use?
also, do you recommend a good method for cleaning between the keys of a macbook keyboard? thank you.
