You should probably change your password

type in your password (you know, 'ilikeB00B5' or whatever)
hit enter
see what comes up
If you use the same password on multiple sites, there's a pretty decent chance something like this will be on there. If so, I'd highly recommend changing your password immediately.
See, lots of websites are not smart about the way they handle security, and if they even hash your password for storage in the first place, they don't salt it. So you can (with a bit of effort) reverse the hash to extract the original password. Which people do, en masse. Like on that site I linked. I'm making this public service announcement because I found one of my old passwords on there. I have since upgraded to a 30+ character one for most sites, and 2-factor authentication where possible. I suggest you do the same. If you need help picking a good password, go to Wikipedia and press the random article button a bunch of times, writing down all the article names that pop up. Combine four words in a memorable pattern and you should be pretty good.

welp, my general keystroke that I use for unimportant things like forums doesn't seem to exist in any form anywhere on the internet as of this moment, which is good.
What do you mean when you say 2 factor authentication?

Where you need your password and 'something else'. The most familiar example for people on here would probably be the Blizzard Authenticator program, where you need a number generated either by a physical token or a software app. Google offers the same thing via a smartphone app, Facebook will text you, etc.
It's the password I use to log into the computer that's not connected to my network, on which I maintain a list of complex passwords for every thing I log into.
I will probably need to change this computer's password again soon, as I'm starting to remember it.
I am glad that I changed my password system a while ago, now I have different passwords for every site but each has the same basic design so I can remember them.

yeah it seems excessive, but it takes <5 seconds to type and is quite easy to remember
also basically impossible to extract from its hash within the lifetime of the universe

I only have $700 in the only bank account I have, I only purchase prepaid credit cards.
Nobody could benefit greatly from stealing my identity.

$700 is a lot of WoW account subscriptions, and you can get a whole lot of high-level loot with those.
It's not something that many people know about or understand
$700 could also buy half of a new hat in Team Fortress 2!
