That's not even bad. You can use the Phlog and still help the team when their flesh is melting. Also I like the flaregun better than the manmelter in case you were going to use that argument. It's impenetrable!
the existence phlog pretty much overrides all your complaints
I'd love the hell out of a mop because I'm not using that third slot with my phlog anyway

hey now
medics like to heal me every now and then
but jebus, Anti
I don't know what point you're even trying to make
like, sometimes the engy gets stuff that doesn't involve building things
and there's not this sort of vitriol from anyone

i'm just a bad angry person that wishes the pyro was actually a useful ambush/chaos creating class instead of being a support role class stuck in the attack class trio
demoman should be in its spot now
pyro should be in support
move another class over to defense shit i dont know
between extinguishing, homewrecking, and just general spychecking, i feel like the point of the class is lost
don't be a chump engie let him guard his own stuff while you run around and rack up kills

i'm not using the homewrecker
i was speaking in generalities
its unlocks have not been as useful for the role as i'd like them to be barring the phlog, which, of course, got nerfed
I didn't notice it got nerfed until somebody told me a week later

The phlog getting nerfed didn't affect it at all. It's still sick as heck when used intelligently but is ultimately crippled by the lack of airblast, which I find to be an incredibly useful tool and makes pyro easily the most versatile class. If you don't like airblast, that's fine, you've got options. But pyro is not stuck in a support role. It's still very capable of chaos and ambush.
I played on a server tonight that was disconnected from the item server for whatever reason so it was all vanilla all the time. It really didn't feel that weird besides not being able to axtinguish or use any sort of ranged attack. I think I did pretty well with the stock thrower. Had to really be careful about my movements and who was where. I got so many kills from blasting heavy/medic combos off of the bridge on Doublecross.

maybe it slows down movement speed a bit when it's out
maybe instead of a bullet shield it shoots bullets
and gives the pyro a +125 health buff

it's pretty dumb that heavies do more damage at pointblank range than pyros
like, super fucking dumb
Demoknights and heavy buffs are two of the weirder things about recent patches
I still prefer the times when a pyro actually had a good chance if they got in close to a heavy, but tweaks to spread and movement made that a much rarer occurence
Also randomly giving one of the most powerful ranged classes the option to fill a melee role was straight up baffling

over the years, have they widened the heavy cone or tightened it? I forget.

they have tightened the heavies cone so their dps at mid range is more consistent
they have made heavy faster
they have eliminated spindown and drastically reduced spinup time
heavy is seriously at least twice as mobile + deadly as it used to be
Beasteh on

that's what I thought
I knew about all the rest though
but having a tighter cone makes them less deadly at close range (like, melee range), though

heavy does 500-540 dps point blank
how is that less deadly

Yeah Shorty's actually right that a tighter cone, weirdly enough, makes it harder to keep a bead on scouts or pyros that are in your face because you can't rely on generous spread to compensate for your lousy aim and clip a guy who you were barely aiming at
The thing is, you can now obliterate anything at medium-to-close range so such classes rarely get a chance to close the distance
As a heavy I don't usually bother targeting medics over their heal-targets, because if I get the drop (literally, from an unexpected height) on an enemy, even an overhealed heavy can't survive that kind of DPS
Also last night I went Kritz heavy with the team's medic, but I did it in response to four goddamn enemy heavies on the cart so I regret nothing

it just absurd that a heavy can plink long range shots at a sniper, waiting out a single crit that puts out sniper headshot damage
As heavies currently stand, even if you slapped them with a 25% damage reduction there'd still be heavy-medic pairs roaming maps and sowing destruction

he should also get a new secondary that lets him recover his health by standing still and not attacking for a few seconds
[The Fireball Flinger] Level 10 Minigun
Effect: Enemies are set on fire by ammunition.
Drawback: Heavy can not airblast.
