This game lacks split-screen online play. My only complaint.

Also, couldn't you just change your location to a different country and download TMNT?

Why would you need split screen? Its a side scrolling beat 'em up.

Or do u mean 2 people on the same Xbox + 2 people over live?
Erm, yeah. That is what I meant.

This game is so hard! Especially when you get to Scene 5.
Oh snap, that scene 5, especially with Shredder...

mid-90's was a great time to be alive for fighter arcade games. Only one arcade on the whole island had AvP and I'd always spend a fuckton of quarters on it.

I'm thinking about downloading this and getting into some co-op action with you all, but I'm pretty sure I only have like 300 points.

Is the 10 bucks worth it?

Just got finished beating this about twenty minutes ago. It's just as good as I'd remembered.

Also, somehow, the world leader in the leaderboards has 9999, while the next closest is in the mid-3000 area.

As for this game, they really should add Venus de Milo as a playable character.

Oh my dear sweet God, no.

That live action show is an abomination to all things Turtles.

Ah yes, Venus. The Turtles character so awful, she was killed by Eastman and Laird themselves!

Yeah, that's where my first and only Xbox Live Coop game ended.

I just finished the game (sort of) in single player, after putting in what seemed like a small fortune in virtual quarters. I killed Shredder, but my character died at the same time. The game wouldn't let me continue -- it just counted down from 20 to zero with Shredder sitting there dead.

Was there an ending scene I should have seen? Do I have to do it again to see the ending? X__X

20? It used to be 10. Which pissed me off, because it usually took to about 11 to race off, get more quarters, race back, put them in, and press start.

Hypothetical: If one were to buy an XBox 360 core system to save monies, would they be able to install a spare 80GB hard drive they happen to have lying around, or would they have to spend some ungodly amount on a "Genuine 360" hard drive?

Because, if this rumored price drop comes about, I may actually be able to afford the core system. I don't mind wired controllers (Especially if I could buy wireless later...), but having to buy a memory card would kill the deal. Are there any other problems with the core package that earned it the "tard pack" label?

If you look here you'll notice that it's not just a hard drive, it's shipped in a special enclosure.

Not to say that someone won't eventually come up with a mod to allow you to install a bigger hard drive, which is desperately needed.

    Argh, lame.

The best part is that the drive costs the exact same as the price difference between core and premium. Not to mention the 64MB memory unit is like $30.

NofrikinfuN, just so you know, the core package also doesn't include:

    - Hi-def (component) cables -- only regular composite. The hi-def cables retail for $30-40
    - Wireless Controller -- it only comes with a regular controller.
    - An Xbox LIVE headset -- you'll have to buy it seperately, with an Xbox LIVE subscription or on its own.

She was a Chinese import. Her sensai (or whatever they call martial arts teachers in China) told her to meet the ninja turtles in New York, and became their official fifth wheel.

The creators of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Eastman and Laird, hated Venus. They felt that she ruined the dynamic of the heroes in a half-shell, who were always meant to be alone and isolated in the world. They didn't like the thought of the turtles having kids, so they killed her off in one of the comics.

I say good riddance. She was a very stereotypical, one-dimensional character judging from what I saw on TMNT: The Next Mutation. Imagine every neophyte martial artist you've ever seen in a kung fu movie, and that was Venus. She wasn't even that good looking; basically a thinner, slightly more shapely version of the other four characters.

I would have been able to forgive her incredibly bland personality if she had been a more exotic species of turtle, like a painted turtle (black with red stripes) or a sawback (blades! on the back! How awesome is that?). But no, she was just a plain, green turtle, making her seem even more contrived and generic.

Not even. Much like Image's TMNT run, they simply pretend it never happened. Arguably the only worse fate for a character than a death.

Well, she was one of the four baby pet turtles dropped down the sewer with the others; in that universe, Splinter just missed her amidst the rest. So it stands to reason she'd be similar.

Word is that Eastman might've actually gone back on the idea of "no female Turtles," though Laird has said "over my dead body" as far as further inclusion goes.

For the benefit of the unknowing, here are a couple of pics of Venus.

    First, the art:

    Provenus.gif

    And then the costume...

    tnm-venus.jpg

I did enjoy some of the villains and ideas in the show, like Dragon Lord...

    drgnlord.jpg

Pity the writing didn't really make good use of the ideas, instead preferring bad jokes...

    More about Venus here.

Of course, when it comes to female TMNT characters, many prefer Ninjara.
