I know a lot of you fuckers dig movies. Of course you do. But this thread ain't about movies. It's about showing off your $300 DVD collection of Kurosawa flicks.
I know a lot of you fuckers dig music. Who doesn't? But this thread ain't about music. It's about that copy of the original mono Bob Dylan recordings you've got on vinyl.
I know a lot of you fuckers dig video games. Because you're nerds. But this thread ain't about video games. It's about that copy of Final Fantasy III you've got in the box.
This thread is where you talk about the things you collect and spend way too much money on. This is where you talk about the things that aren't just worth owning, but worth owning the rarest, highest quality version of.
This thread is where you pretend that $400 you just spent on Criterion Collection DVDs over at Barnes & Nobles 50% off sale was a good idea.
So SE++, what treasure have you got laying around?
Well, we have a lot of DVDs, and books, and games, but we're also cheap, so we don't tend to buy something unless we can get a deal on it or we really, really want it.
So I suppose the closest we come to owning anything rare or high quality is the number of special editions of the Big Lebowski @Moriveth has. I think we have about three copies.
Seriously, this Barnes & Noble sale is ridiculous. I just picked up:
AK 100 - 25 Films by Akira Kurosawa
Tokyo Story
An Autumn Afternoon
Criterion Collection: Eclipse Series 5 - Late Ozu
The Floating Weeds
The Thin Red Line
Days of Heaven
The 400 Blows
Solaris
In The Mood For Love
I have Videodrome, Brazil, Chasing Amy, Naked Lunch, Royal Tenenbaums, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, and Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou criterion collections. Woo what a waste of money.

I have many Metal Gear things. Maybe I will do a post about them later.
You guys should see my brother's game collection though, it is ridiculous. He has like, every retro-obscure-collector's-japanese game you can think of. He has four Neo Geos. Four!

So I have a lot of Star Wars d20 books but the best one is Power of the Jedi. I had to specifically get it on my birthday from my parents who had to fight tooth and nail to snag it on eBay.

$300 for a 90 page roleplaying book.
But damn if it isn't worth it.
This is the kind of shit I'm talking about. That's wicked.
How does the game hold up? I've never played it, but it seems like it could be pretty awesome.

It is honestly my favorite role-playing system I've ever played/owned. It brings everything I enjoy about D&D 3.5 and gets rid of everything I dislike from it.
Things like level adjustment? Nope, there is no racial balance in Star Wars d20. Some races are just superior while others are horrible, it is just a facet of the game they put together.
And that Power of the Jedi book? Not only is it good for adding mechanical aspects but the writings on being a Jedi are really in depth. There is a whole section on the philosophy and ideals of the Jedi which ends up with the book telling players & GMs, "If you want to fight with a laser sword go play a soldier, playing a Jedi is serious fucking business."
I would always recommend it, although it may be a bit difficult to find now (this is the RCR version I am discussing by the way, not the latest edition).

You don't get it man.
It just ain't the same.
Edit: Also, hulu isn't available in Canada.
My sister has the 4 disc set of Jeff Wayne's War of the Worlds records. In pretty much mint condition. That she bought for $2 at an op-shop.

My Criterion Collection has just tripled in size.
3DS: 5241-1953-7031
I've made everyone I know watch Space Balls, History of the World and Blazing Saddles.
There's room up in the tundra. How does $600 a month for 2,000,000 sq.ft. sound?
This is amazing.
Thank God Christmas is coming.

God I can't wait for this to arrive.
