I wonder how expensive the rights to Bubsy and Ristar would be. I can't help but think that making new versions as xbox arcade titles would be very lucrative.

Retroid is my crimefighting name.
Also, while I remember Bubsy, I don't really feel the need for him to return. Now, Ristar on the other hand, so much amazing shit can be done with that. The best level was stage 1 of the singing planet with the birds. As you gave the metronomes to the sad birds throughout, the music amped up more and more. It was really neat.
When I was in college, my roommate and I used to try and come up with webcomic ideas, none of which ever got off the ground.
One of the ones we came up with was to star Bubsy and feature other forgotten video game characters (I guess we were planning on counting on parody use or whatever? Doubt that would have worked but it's not like it mattered since it never got off the ground). I remember one of the running gags was people constantly confusing him for Ratchet and him getting very upset and screaming that he's not a lombax. The only strip I remember that got partially drawn involved an argument with Aero the Acrobat about who has more games (the punchline being Bubsy concedes that he shouldn't count Bubsy 3D and that one of his games was basically Bubsy 1.5, but that 2.5 games is still greater than 2).

Bubsy was available for the snes man.
Satans..... hints.....
And then their games flopped and their series died out.
So there is no "Future Bubsy".
the first bubsy game was multiplat, made by accolade and released in the early 90s. I played it on snes when I was a kid.
Everything, Bubsy. Everything.
Panel 3 from yesterday over layed on Bubsy's face and liberal use of the smear button

He crashed into Ristar.

I'm still wondering when future Vectorman and Sketch Turner will show up... A man can dream...

Also, so hyped for Generations. Amazon better dispatch it soon or I might eat my own face.
Ask and ye shall receive.
Jesus christ, I'm old.
If you have a Wii, go acquaint yourself with Ristar and Alex Kidd on the virtual console. No Bubsy there though, which is probably for the best.
And contrary to popular belief, Bubsy's first game wasn't terrible. It was by no means great and overly difficult, but it was decent.
