I have an old 20gb Xbox, so I'm really tight on space. I read that it uses 6.2 gigs for administrative stuff (caching etc), however if I add up everything saved to the box (System Settings > Memory > Hard Drive), it only allows 8.7 gb of saving room. I'm wondering, where are my extra ~5gb? Do dashboard updates really require 5gb? I've googled around to no avail. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.
i herd it was more like 8 gig taken up admin stuff, emulators for xbox 1 games etc. im pretty sure when i got my first xbox 360 day 1 with no updates etc the was just under 12 gig of room free

Yeah, when I bought my first 360 just after launch, it only had 13GB of space, the rest taken up by system stuff.

Check to make sure you didn't copy a game to the hard disk. Generally that's where I'm at with one disc copied.

Yeah, it should be 13gb free.
Check through the menus and see what's taking up that space.
