When we were planning our wedding I told my soon-to-be wife
"listen. For the money we are spending, we could take the most important people we care about, fly to Vegas, have a fucking blast, get hitched and it'll be 10 times easier and more fun"
She says " no I really want to have a nice traditional wedding here"
Cut to 3 months, one wedding and numerous bills later
Weddings in new York and such cost tens of thousands of dollars to rent space and all that jazz
We.... Aren't New York so we rented the rose garden at our local park for something like $150 and had about 150 or so people there
What got us was that with such a large amount of people coming to the reception, te only place in the area that could seat and feed that many people was the fancy hotel in town. And they knew they were the only ones that offer that size of a service so they charge out the ass
I'd have preferred an even cheaper ceremony but we were having a wedding for our families, not ourselves
I am deathly afraid that my parents are going to try to cut and skimp on every little thing, since they're likely going to be able to help me out when the day comes.
I'm not sure if I'd rather go without their help and have what we want, or accept the help and just fight for as much as we think we can get.
We just printed all of our invitation stuff today, now the sorting and addressing and such begins. We've got a lot of our stuff together, church, venue, caterer, photographer, her dress /bridesmaids dresses, suits, but the little stuff is what seems to pile up. That and finalizing the guest list
Less than 4 months to go. I'm pretty much the "calm down, we've got so much done already, there's not THAT much left" person
but secretly sometimes I look at how much time there is left and how much people that are supposed to help aren't helping and I start
