And now, a few minutes of Andy Rooney

Andy Rooney, commentator for 60 minutes for 33 years, died at the age of 92 in NYC, from complications from minor surgery. Some say he was the "most celebrated curmudgeon", still others "crusty", but in life, he was a representative of a generation long gone. He was a World War 2 veteran, a writer, and famous for his commentary at the end of 60 Minutes, which could sometimes be quite controversial. Rooney left 60 minutes a month ago, here's his last commentary:
I'll always remember him as the guy who always complained about the kids these days.
But he isn't actually complaining in your video?
what, yes he is. he's complaining that he is out of the loop when it comes to music. "they're selling millions of songs by singers I've never heard of", he says.
Man. Sad to see him go, and I hadn't watched his last appearance until now, and I just love that the very last thing he says on 60 minutes is "If you recognize me in a restaurant, please, just let me eat my dinner."

You're failing to get that his point is more musing on what seems to him to be the oddity that we can share so much in common across age groups but be so vastly different in musical tastes. I do find it a rather trite point he's making because music is tremendously cultural. But he's not really complaining as he is musing, "why is it this way? oh well, let's just call it even."
He's always been a writer and essayist that I respected. Say what you will, but the man was good at his job and especially in his prime, he was a hell of a writer.

He had just retired, that sucks.

One less grump out on the front porch.
