Best Program To Boost PC Gaming?

Professor SnugglesworthProfessor Snugglesworth Registered User regular
Recently, I've been using Game Booster as a program to help increase performance from my PC games without the need to overclock or constantly mess with ini settings: http://www.iobit.com/gamebooster.html

On the whole, the program works as intended; it automatically shuts off processes that I can list as "unnecessary", and I've gotten improvements in many games, going so far as to go from 30 fps originally to a stable 60 fps using the program.

But it isn't perfect....in fact, it can get really darn slow when it's reloading the processes once I shut my game off. But even more annoying is when it decides to boost just for opening up a game's launcher instead of the actual game. As a result, it doesn't play nice with Skyrim, so I've had to disable it for that game altogether.

So my question is simple: is there a much better alternative to Game Booster that offers similar (if not better) results?

Personally I'd upgrade my hardware before using a "game optimizer" program.

Yeah, if stuff running in the background drops you from 60fps to 30 then you have some kind of problem with your computer. Most games are GPU not CPU bound these days.

CCleaner -> defragment -> update your drivers -> uninstall shit you don't use -> make other shit not run at startup

All of these are preferable to your borderline product hawking.

It baffles me that you think I'm trying to sell you on this program when I'm asking you for better alternatives.

Someone told me to give RadeonPro a shot, which I'm currently doing now.

Though I at least solved the Skyrim issue by setting Game Booster to boost manually by my own accord. I'm always open to new ideas though.

A new video card would most likely make a significant improvement to your gaming. Ask for one for Christmas?

If you double your frame rate by turning off crap, your computer is due for a reformat + reinstall.
