Max Payne 1 and 2 are two of the finest games ever made, let's make that clear upfront. And now Rockstar are ramping up the hype machine for Max Payne 3, after being sort of quiet for a very long time.
some of the levels where it's a younger max payne, especially the capture from the vid lead me to believe they might be remakes of the first game's levels
Uh, I don't see it. It looks like a third person shooter with some outdoor environments, I guess?
Yeah and Assassin's Creed: Revelations is just a third person slasher game and Bioshock: Infinite is just another FPS - clearly environment and storytelling are not a factor in anyone's excitement for games.
hopefully it will be new-player friendly, storywise. I can't see Rockstar making it hard for people to jump on to since it is clearly higher profile than the other two and will like draw in a lot of players like me.
I didn't like where the story went in the latter half of Max Payne 2. I felt like it was more 'boo hoo not the chick I was banging' compared to the tone of the first game, which was man against the world, stark revenge, nothing to lose. Seriously, the last few levels in the first Max Payne are some of my favorite in any game ever. It was just absolutely chilling and amazing when it came out.
Damn now I have to go dig out my disc so I can play it again. Blurgh and you have to jump through a bunch of hoops to get it working on 64bit system too.
I might buy them on Live sometime but 15 bucks for a 5 hour long decade old game is a bit much
Max Payne pre-dates wow. Your computer will be able to run it. Plus it is on steam. And also longer than 5 hours, I think, it really was very good.
Also pipe, this game looks nothing like uncharted. It will also play nothing like uncharted. Limited movement around the levels, so no climbing all over stuff. The gunplay will actually be really fun. And this game started bullet time. It does it well.
seriously the descriptions in that gameplay trailer are amazing. the reaction to gunshots in the NPCs is amazing. I have a feeling this game will be the most satisfying game to shoot dudes in.
this is the clincher for me, though; the only thing the games industry seems to have learned from actual noir is the stylistic trappings and not any of what makes it interesting
Limited cast of characters who recur in sometimes unexpected ways, an urban cosmopolitan setting, elements of sexual tension and transgression which the protagonist is tempted by and resists, corruption, vice, betrayal, and a morally ambiguous ending which resolves nothing and it is unclear whether or not anything good was achieved
noirs are romances of the city, but theyre also very moralistic tales about the dangers of overindulging in the freedom afforded by the urban environment
the detectives are lone guardians of chivalry and virtue and live by strict codes that make sense nearly only to themselves; they are tempted and may falter, but always hold true when it counts. It's a modern day sir Gawain and the green knight.
This isn't a definition of noir - that's impossible. Just an answer to what I consider the central ideas of it are, and what makes it so compelling.

I'm looking forward to it more than anything else in 2012
Steam
Gameplay looks like Max Payne but that's no reason to keep the character around
Not that I really care about that. Gonna buy the heck out of it probs.
Am I crazy?
Need some stuff designed or printed? I can help with that.
commencing violent masturabation until its release and my release
Don't forget, it's set in Yemen.
I fucking loved Max Payne, one of the first playstation games I ever played.
When does this come out?

I'm so excited I made the thread.

I watched it with some friends who of course hated it. I loved it in all its terrible ways.

Edit: that was supposed to say look, but I think it is a cool typo
