That's rather surprising. How is it? I've often said that the iPad would potentially be the best venue for Visual Novels, though so far the only games I've seen are Phoenix Wright and Ghost Trick. The latter works great, the former...not so much. There's also Corpse Party, but I believe that's on iPhone only and not released in NA (?).
You can make right click bring up the menu in options (Function of right click>Call Menu), though I find it more convenient to have the quicksave button right there anyhow. It's a text game, more text in the corner doesn't really mess with the visual motif to me.
I haven't tried the iPad version itself, though I am switching in between playing the game on the PC and watching it on Youtube on my iPad when I feel like lounging on the couch, and that works fine.
Just a heads up, for the next couple of days Right Stuf has a sale on visual novels. All I'm really interested in is Stein;s Gate, but there's a bunch of other titles in the sale, too.
I briefly played it for about half an hour. It's an effectively spooky game that's essentially one of those "die for going left instead of right" games, but not quite as frustrating. Think Corpse Party without the lengthy bad ends.
Anyone playing Long Live the Queen? It's a bit more simplistic presentation-wise than other VNs, but it makes up for that by offering a ton of multiple paths and outcomes based on what skills you choose to level up on.
Also still in the early parts of Higurashi, but even with the translation patch the localization isn't the greatest. It's also difficult sometimes to tell who is saying what line.
So I heard about some game coming out called Chaos;Child, is that related to Stein's;Gate? And is Chaos;Head related to those?
The four series (Chaos;HEAd, Stein's;Gate, Robotics;Notes, and Chaos;Child) are connected to each other in certain ways. Child seems to be a direct sequel to HEAd, though.

Shit, looks like I got some work to do. I only know Choas;HEAd from the anime series, does it also have a game? I know Stein's;Gate has a game but I never had a 360 to play it. Haven't even heard of Robotics;Notes and I just heard of Chaos;Child.

Chaos;Head started as a PC visual novel. It's about a shut-in who finds himself on the trail of a killer, I think. All four games revolve around a science theme of some sort. Robotics;Notes is about a science club that tries to build a giant robot, and succeeds.

Both Chaos;Head and Steins;Gate got PC releases long ago, actually! Of course, only the PC version of S;G is getting an official English release (which is not out yet, sadly), but there are fan translations for both games. And I haven't watched the Chaos;Head anime because I heard it's baaad compared to the VN, which is awesome (I mean, S;G is clearly the best, but I played C;H first and it was truly amazing and creeped me the hell out in some places). S;G is the only one that got an anime adaptation that was universally considered amazing (I hear Robotics;Notes' anime is "okay").

Yeah, anime adaptations of VNs being good is very much an exception. Sadly R;N didn't get a PC release, so a fan translation is unlikely.
I think I heard Higurashi's adaptation is okay? Shame they never made one for Umineko.

So it is worth getting the game on PC and finding the translation? If so, where can I grab a copy of both? It sounds like they are but I'd like to be sure, they seem interesting.
I can't compare the Chaos;HEAd anime to the vn at all but I'm kind of hoping the vn wont be completely ruined for me because I watched the anime series.
I've been wanting to watch the Higurashi anime for a long time. I really enjoy bloody/violent series like that. Aren't enough. Which reminds me that there is a Corpse Party anime.

The Corpse Party anime is probably the goriest thing I've ever seen, and that was just the trailer.
I heard they even made the ending darker, and that's saying something.

There are fansubs out there, should be easy enough with a Google search.
The OVAs are ridiculously gory, but that's the big problem: they're too ridiculous.
The games managed to be unnerving because they don't show you all the details. They knew to let your imagination run wild and terrify you with all the text descriptions and sound effects. The Anime ignores this completely for off-the-wall violence that's unpleasant but hardly scary.
The creepy decapitated ghost kid in the game is the equivalent of the decapitated Britney Spears from South Park.

While it's not an anime, the manga adaption of Higurashi is fucking fantastic, closely follows the VN and even expands on some of it, and the art is incredible (and also horrific). It's buyable in English too.
Just finished Corpse Party: Book of Shadows. Really good stuff; I was skeptical on the first-person look at first, but it definitely enhanced the immersion and freaky shit, and there were some great nightmare fuel moments throughout. It lays it on a bit too thick at times, but man. Effective game. I still need to get a couple wrong ends, because why not, but I love it.

So a while back I downloaded a demo for a VN about some people going to an island and some witch murdering people in mysterious ways and such. I can't remember the name of it and the site I downloaded the demo from but I remember someone in the VN thread told me about.
Anyone able to jog my memory?

I'm enjoying the heck out of DanganRonpa (spoilers up to Chapter 3's mid point).
The story reminds me a bit of Corpse Party in how they take typical Anime archetypes and turn them over their heads. Oh, the plucky school idol who the main dude fawned over from a distance? Yeah, she dies early and was actually going to screw you over. The gruff and violent motorcycle dude who would eventually become your best bro? He doesn't become your bro, but he does commit a heinous murder.
And man, what a delightfully evil character Monokuma is. He's almost worse than Kyubey and has as much fun torturing people as Kefka. It's borderline draining how much he screws with the characters.
My only big complaint is how the characters seem to brush off certain events far too quickly and casually. Byakuya desecrating Chihiro's corpse just for "fun" and claiming how he'll eventually kill them should have been enough to make him unforgivable, yet the characters carry on and at one point even state "Maybe he's not such a bad guy after all." Keep in mind I think Byakuya is great (his smugness level is Lannister tier), but they should not have let that shit slide as quickly as they did.
Same for Genocide Jack/Jill. Ironically she's one of the more trustworthy characters since she has a specific M.O. for her murders, but you'd think having a serial killer with a higher kill count than The Joker roaming the halls would put them more on edge.
Just hoping real hard Sakura and Hina survive this in the end. Of course, this game routinely crushes hope and spits on its corpse, so the odds aren't looking good...

No way to just bring it up? I usually like my VNs clutter-free, but if it's just a tiny menu and the only way to save I suppose I can live with it.
And just to double-check, there's also no way to customize the resolution, I'm assuming?

And not to my knowledge, no.
Also while Googling for that, I learned that they actually have this on iOS: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/higurashi-when-they-cry-ep1/id383052917?mt=8

They've already suggested that, as many suspected, they're watching the sales of 1 to decide whether or not to localize 2.

I doubt it. I don't think Crunchyroll will get it either. It was OAV only.
I preferred the more understated attitude of the VN myself. And when you have to call Corpse Party understated... you know that's one messed up OVA.
