I have a feeling we'll see something about 30 cars that are "icons" of their class. Supercars like the 458 Italia, Diablo, etc. Tuners like mid-90s Civics, AE86, etc. Stuff along that lines.

Dunno, seems like they might have a few more than that, since they had what, 5 bmws alone. Either way, not really interested. If I want to play a game with that style, I'll go play that new Need for Speed game, or Burnout Paradise.
In the little of Horizon we've seen, it is clearly super drift happy, as these games tend to be. Also lulz at driving supercars on dirt roads. Destroy all the undercarriages!

All the play videos have shown that the dirt shoulders are just as drivable as asphalt as well. The driving simulation might be a cut and paste of "forza physics" but they've clearly tweaked the variables so it's gonna be Forza Lite at best. They're shooting for mass appeal on this one.

I won't have you hating on the Burnout series, Acid. Criterion did an excellent job with Paradise.
hey I love the Burnout series, even Crash. I'm just odd in that I'd want Forza physics in everything. Even in a post-apocalyptic car combat game. I want 2 player co-op where one person plays the driver, the other the gunner(s). I want to be driving an up-armored trans am with a bushmaster mounted on top against a dodge ram equipped with a cow catcher and a mounted flamethrower, and I want to be doing this all on the fujimi kaido downhill.
anyway, this "Playground Games" has people from Bizarre Creations and Codemasters, and people who have worked on Pure, Split/Second, and Blur.
Is it possible to use cars with decals applied in free play mode? I'm designing an advertising study that involves applying logos to the cars and the process gets a bit tougher if I have to take participants into career mode.

Believe so, try going off to the left and select cars from My Garage.
If nothing else, you can go to test drive mode in career and that basically is the same as free play.
So I'm trying to find a car for next season in the FSCS and I test drove the Maserati GrandSport S at random and immediately fell in love. At-spec its perfect. Even though the lightest it can get is 3200lbs the handling is amazing and oh my god the soundtrack. Also one of the factory paints is this gorgeous matte blue. I saved it as a Bigshot and resized it since its hard to get right in screenshots.
I already started making a livery for it, I love that matte paint so much (why the fuck cant we paint matte colors or use matte decals FFFFFFFFFF). Trying to go more minimalist

opinions?
p.s. fuck you jpeg compression
Very nice. I also agree on the matte paint thing. Looks super awesome here.
Also probably not jpeg compression so much as choosing a poor resizing algorithm. Don't see too many jpeg artifacts.
I like it as well, but it feels like something is missing from the sides of the car though. Thinking of an accent colour that wouldn't over power the logos
If you use logos you purchase off the market though, you can't upload the cars to a club garage to share with others.
Not really an issue as I'm creating everything myself, and it's all just plain text that would only take 5 minutes to do by hand. When you start introducing graphical logos you can run into some problems very quickly with variances in logo complexity leading to poorer recall, etc., and I want to keep that kind of stuff as constant as possible.
Time for your weekly installment of "Feel Better About Your Times Compared to Eclibull's!", the Road America edition.
In SC, the Cali pulled in a 2:16 flat. It felt so much more comfortable on that track than the others we've run that I figured maybe, just maybe, I'll get a chance to run it.
In TC, I gave the Lancia a shot with the tune I have been running with and pulled in a 2:36.7. Which, without even comparing it to anything, felt horrible. So, I went in to the garage and started monkeying around, only to sadly find I didn't have a hell of a lot of room over the requirements. With some cutting, I did manage to pull out some more HP and speed, but at the cost of tire width. I was worried, because it has a history of kicking out the tail, and with dropping the front tires all the way down to default and the rears to one step above default, I figured "ice-skates time".
The new tuned Lancia pulled a 2:32.5 (which was with a blown corner just before the sweeper, who knows what it was before that). At least 4 seconds better.
And here's the thing. This tune? IT CORNERS BETTER THAN THE OLD ONE! How did... I don't... It doesn't kick out, at all, anymore, while carrying much more speed through the corners. How the hell does that work, that dropping the tires 3 levels improves the grip and handling !?
Either way, with this new Lancia being much better than the old one, which I was already qualifying better with than the Cali, I have a feeling I'm going to be running it all night again. At least now it's much more fun to drive and not turtle-slow.
My BMW is ~2:30.9. Probably at least a half second on the track somewhere, but I always mess up either the carousel, the kink, or that lefthander over the hill.
Edit: 360 CS is ~2:17.3. Road America is such a fun course, it and hockenheim both have some wonderful corners.
Two possibilities, the extra heat in the tires giving more grip and narrower fronts adding understeer to balance out the handling. Sideways is slow.
It understeers less than it did before, too (it's mid-engine, so it had the Porsche style "Understeer until it Oversteers" issue).
Well, compared to Veevee and Knight's initial times, my cars look to be doing better than usual. Compared to Knight's second times they're doing about usual, so all is right.

However, I did fall asleep at the wheel numerous times.

Which puts me in the top 3% and at 12,347.
The problem is, most of you assholes are above that.
And I'm running a new Z68 motherboard and SSD in my computer. So it hauls.
I should be in for tomorrow's racing, we doing a theme? And I'll post some Road America times tomorrow.
Edit: 360 CS is ~2:17.3. Road America is such a fun course, it and hockenheim both have some wonderful corners.
I can get my Mazda around Road America in 2:30.7's (TC), and my Porsche in 2:15.5's. It doesn't really matter since I probably wont show up again.
@Nova_C the theme for tuesday is 4 door car A class (so basically the "sedan/saloon" body style)
Edit: And changing my diff settings on my BMW got it down to 2:29.4
It understeers less than it did before, too (it's mid-engine, so it had the Porsche style "Understeer until it Oversteers" issue).

SC: 2:14.1
TC: 2:31.3
I think I could get those times a little better, but I'm not going to catch Knight's cheater cars.
Oh shush Mr. My car has huge tires. I'm on 225s for this race!
Just like my giant ass wings don't help.
