I need to console in a full set of heavy sneak gear for Lydia or something because god damn does she enjoy alerting everyone in a 10 mile radius that I'm coming.
Lydia is not a stealth character. All followers have their own skills that improve as their level increases, and unlike your character, their skills do not improve through use. Sneak is not one of her skills, so giving her lighter armor won't help you get through a dungeon quietly.
All of the the Housecarls use One-Handed, Heavy Armor, Archery and Block.
I'm talking about a heavy set with raw bonuses to sneak and maybe muffle.
Just so I can walk up to a room without her alerting half the dungeon ahead of time.
Anyone else playing at 1920x1080 feel like sharing what their performance is like? Mine is getting super stuttery (is that a word?) inside buildings and towns.
The Dunmer lady in Whiterun (Jenassa) is actually not very good at Sneak, surprisingly. She has a little Sneak skill, but it's middling compared to her 1h and Archery skills; I eventually had to drop her on my Rogue because her Sneak was lagging enough behind that she was getting me caught. Oddly enough, Marcurio, the mage in Riften, is stealthier. In fact, he's probably the stealthiest follower you can get without going with a Guild faction. From what I've seen, the best stealth-based companions are
Cicero and the Initiate
in the Dark Brotherhood. Both of them have insanely good Sneak skill along with extremely good weapon skills.
One thing I want to know is how you find out what perks companions have. I know some companions get some different perks as they level, but as far as I can tell, there's no console command to see what perks someone has.

In the second half of the game I used Aranea Ienith (think that was her name - she's the one at Azura's Shrine) with the ebony mail (which has a muffle spell) equipped on her. I was able to sneak up on people without much of a problem.
Eventually I ditched her because it meant I could climb over rocks without worrying whether she would be able to pathfind her way to me or not. But when I had her along, it seemed like she had a decent sneak skill - and she's a good spellcaster.

I don't think I've got everything completely maxed, but I generally run above 40 FPS. Sometimes get slowdown when I view this or that scene from a certain angle, but generally very good and very stable. I could probably notch a couple things down to get a solid 60 FPS, but I love the way the game looks way, way more than having the game run silky-smooth all the time.

About the main quest, does anyone know what the point is to
send followers to become Blades?
I'm guessing it is a late game thing but also a mechanic to get all your peeps in one place? y/n?
You can give them up to four companions, and after doing so
they'll hunt dragons with you. You talk to Esbern and he'll send you on a mission to hunt down a dragon, and when you do it the Blades you've recruited will run off and meet you at the dragon location, at which point you kill it.
Delphine makes this big deal about "once you join the Blades, you can't leave!" but you can continue to use the Blades followers as followers if you want, they just run around in Blades armor with shields and katanas.
It seems to be another variant on their Radiant Quest system: talk to NPC, receive quest (hunt dragon) and some friends are sent along with you. Beyond that, I'm not sure it does much else.
So after the whole resist ho hum, I refused to lower the defucility, so I went with enchanting straight up health insted of resist. Just using 100 enchanting and a 25% enchanting pot (from a vendor, no recursive alch drama) would give you 70 health. To a total of 720 hp.
It still feel like cheating, the regen on the health makes it so an ancint dragon's full breath takes half my health but I regen half that by the time he comes back again. 100 Enchanting perk is a game breaker.
I need to console in a full set of heavy sneak gear for Lydia or something because god damn does she enjoy alerting everyone in a 10 mile radius that I'm coming.
There is a fairly easily obtainable solution for this.

True, but I'm still glad they let me do it. My sword-and-shield warrior is a freaking tank and that's how I want him to be; he should be godlike after all the crap he's been through.

Shadow Mail from Bolieth(sp?). Can't recall if it's considered heavy but I threw it on her and she's never gotten me spotted aside from the occasional first arrow doesn't drop my target/misses and so she runs into combat flailing and she's taken on dragons in it without dieing.
So I played tonight for the first time since the patch came out on the PC, and the menu controls for the controller seemed to be all sorts of messed up. Is this common with the patch? And if so, is there a fix or am I better off waiting for the fix from Bethesda?
I swear to god, the Skeevers in my game must have some sort of anti-Lycanthrope bonus because this is the second time I've contracted Ataxia while having a supposed 100% immunity to disease.
The newest patch breaks all resistances. So...you aren't immune right now.
OK, heres my grand unified theory of why speech should be removed. Skills in skyrim serve one of 2 purposes. 1. They differentiate characters and reward you for what you are doing. A warrior guy who gains 1 handed isn't gaining 2 handed. You make the choice to have gains in one of these skills at the cost of gaining another school or 2. They are essentially part of level scaling, these are the skills you don't sacrifice to gain, such as alchemy, smithing, and enchanting. The purpose these skills serve is to give you more powerful potions/armor as you are gaining in level. Assuming you don't go out of your way to grind them, the theory is that they should be providing appropriate items for whatever leveling you have. Speech breaks these two categories, it isn't raised at the cost of something else, and it doesn't act as a gatekeeper to except money, that might have been their intention during design, but money is useless in this game.
Edit: What I would have liked would be a shout skill or some perks, some way to be a more shout based character.
Speech as solely a perk tree I could maybe see, but having it being as a shout line is something I wouldn't want. I like the shout system and all, but the game focuses far too heavily on it, and significantly hurts anyone who doesn't go through at least the first half of the main quest. I even feel that shouts also diminish the uniqueness and utility of some of the magic skills, but that's just me. I sincerely hope that future DLC doesn't go crazy with adding to the shout stuff, especially if it's to the detriment of other stuff.
Oh sorry, the shout thing was just a random thought at the end, not connected with speech I just think it would be cool if you could get some shout perks.
Did we ever figure out whether the heavy armor perk actually makes your equipped armor take up no weight in your pack? Because the Steed stone does. It's the most ridiculous thing ever.

Having Shout-related perks on the Speech tree would go a long way towards making Speech worth pursuing. Just throw some things in there like "Shouts do x% more damage" and "Shout time reduced by x%".
Personally, I felt damage-dealing Shouts were really anemic compared to their cooldown time. For the fire one, this big ball of fire goes all over the place... and hardly any damage is dealt. Ended up far better off using Become Ethereal over the miniscule effect of that Shout.

Yes.
And not only does your equipped armor weigh nothing, any other armor you are carrying that has same name as your equipped armor also weighs nothing.
Not too shabby. Dunno if that's intentional or a bug, but I like it.

It's probably a bug. There's something similar with enchanted items. Even if you have two different names, if the items are enchanted the same eventually they end up named the same.
Skyrim has an issue with differentiating things that are similar.
Or the TLDR version that Skyrim thinks... "One of these things is not like the other, one of these things is now modified to be exactly the same"
There's no plan, there's no race to be run
The harder the rain, honey, the sweeter the sun.
That's pretty much what I figured. It's supposed to make something called "Armor Piece X" weigh nothing, so it does. Can't fault it for that.
...that actually gives me an idea........what if you named a bunch of your spare weapons and armor the same thing as the armor you were wearing? Do you think you could carry most of your equipment around weight-free with that perk? I don't see why not, except for maybe that renaming bug changing the names back.
p.s. oh hey, I took an almost identical screenshot to Seguer's third one up there today:

Thank ya! Is there a coding reason for the ?.jpg that I'm ignorant too, or is it just a quirk?

Because two glass daggers fails horribly from a quickslot standpoint. The game forgets I have two legendary glass daggers until I equip one.
