Jerry should draw the strip again!

Also, in line with what Gabe is saying in the third panel, I find it very funny when rappers refer to themselves as artists.

He had became the most headstrong, by getting ahead
Of himself, his own growth, thought his body with dread
"Curse my other self now, for drawing me in such manner!"
A Tychpo for the eyes, and on Gabe, what could be sadder?

No hasty editing of words could sooth his heads plight
Oh the strength it kept to balance, it took all his might!
And as he packed up his bags, he thought with dismay
"'How the fuck do you take off your shirt?' They'll all say!"

We need that cut-out of sassy-Gabe up in here. "Look at me, I'm a writer, painting with words."

  • AlexanderDSoSoAlexanderDSoSo Registered User new member
I dunno. As a writer, I both agree and disagree with this point. Yes, the involved steps are very different. But... if a drawer, a painter, a cartoonist, a sculpter, a molder, a jewelrymaker, a carpenter, ect, are all called artists... Why not the poet, the playwright, the scripter, the novelist?

How is it different that your medium is words instead of wood or paper or metal? Hell, they call chefs artists, working in the medium of food. So yes, a writer is an artist. (the whole paint with words metaphor though... a bit weak. )

I think the third panel is intended as the punchline to a joke.

Not a fan of the art for the past year or so. The art was best in, say, 2008-2009.

...which is pretty ridiculous for me to say, considering I cannot draw for anything. If I were Gabe I would be offended.

I can't tell if the punchline is that Tycho said something dumb and Gabe is the straight man, or that Gabe is a drama queen being dismissive of writers.

Yeah, you should not take anything that Gabe says as a "point." At the risk of stripping the strip of humour by explaining it, part of what makes it funny is that Gabe would honestly be offended at a writer calling himself an artist. In his head, that's probably like a retired mall-cop calling himself a veteran.

Funny thing I needed to share that Gabe would *hate*. In Russian a child "draws" a picture, while da Vinci "wrote" the Mona Lisa.

Today's news post is pretty stupendous but I'm a little worried about this bit:
Gabriel should leave more often, I’m having a fucking blast. I’m gonna spend the entire week on a kind of trachea tour, like a mad wolf, just howlin’ and biting out throats.
    Like... what?

Strippers using the giraffe necks as the long, slender, natural stripping poles that they are.

Putting on an exotic show and sliding down their necks playfully as they reach for higher branches . . . periodically getting some shots of those hot black tongues in action.

Yeah, but I've heard this exact argument both ways from authors and visual artists and musicians. Especially in the webcomics field, where collaborations are common, there is argument over which is more important, the writer or the artist.
