Should I buy this used PS3

I need your advice. I have a friend who is moving and wanting to sell his PS3. He said he would give me the PS3, Heavy Rain, Mortal Combat and Assassins cread 2 for around $100. It is a European PS3, I'm from the states and right now I'm living in Japan. It seems to be a really good buy for me but do you guys think it is worth it if I already have an xbox? It seams to me most games aren't exclusive anymore and I'm not sure how much of a bother it will be trying to buy region free blu-ray. Usually I would have bought it as fast as possible but its the holiday season and I'm a little tight on cash right now.

You're light on cash and you already have a gaming machine. I think you answered your own question.

Unless you're hard up for a Blu-Ray player or an exclusive title like Uncharted, you've already got an identical gaming machine.

I disagree. While there are many cross platform releases the is also plenty of platform exclusive titles and there are some very sweet ones for the PS3. I have both the consoles mentioned plus a gaming PC and even though I bought both consoles at original launch prices I do not regret doing so. Getting a PS3 at bargain price like that I'd say is a good deal - even if one should somehow regret buying it for some crazy reason re-selling should be easy.

Here is a few examples of PS3 exclusives (not mentioning the pretty sweet ones included in the deal on offer):

Little Big Planet 1+2
Ratchet & Clank series
Gran Tourismo 5
Ico & Shadow of the Colossus (remakes of legendary PS2 titles)
Uncharted 1+2+3

Wipeout HD

The PS3 is also the far superior choice for people living abroad/in Japan, although that applies more to a PS3 that is either from your home region or the region you live in.

Everyone in my area has a PS3 because it's easier to own here.
