Help me pick a laptop

Okay, so, I'll be graduating in a few days, and my parents want to get me a present. I've been saddled with a crummy laptop for over 5 years now, so they figure getting me a new one would be a pretty good idea. Unfortunately, I've slowly discovered that actually choosing a laptop can be a little...difficult, even with the help of shopping guides from sites like AnandTech.

So, what I'm looking for is something with at least a 15-inch screen that can play games along the lines of League of Legends and Starcraft 2 (I'm not expecting to run Crysis on this thing). I'd also use it to record (over Skype) and edit audio fairly frequently. Ideally, it would be not much more than $600.

I've already done a little research on my own, and the HP Pavillion DV6 seems pretty good; but I'd really like to get some more opinions.

well, it seems the SC2 is optimized for the Intel HD 3000 graphics, so any laptop with that should do ok for that, and it seems that LoL runs ok with them too, don't plan on stepping much past those though. i like Asus's offerings personally, they have a number of laptops that would fit your need, you can probably find them on amazon for that price range.

really though, if that is all you're doing, almost any laptop can pull it off. what it comes down to is aftermarket support. so look for reviews on that. since your looking for a pretty plain laptop, i suggest looking into support more that the actual laptop, and i can't off much info there. not sure how good HP is these days.
