I've synced up both my Hotmail and Uni-mail to my phone and I can read and access my emails perfectly fine. However, when it comes to deleting emails ... deleting it on my phone does not actually delete the messages from actual accounts. Sure, they won't show up on my phone anymore, but when I open up my emails at work, they're still there (and marked as unread for that matter - though this issue doesn't really bother me). Anyone else have this problem and a possible solution? Thanks in advance mates.

I want to say there's a setting related to messages on the server - usually it's just something like "keep a copy of messages on the server" but in some cases there is a "deleted messages also delete from the server" or something similar. I'm sure you've already poked around in the settings though, so it's possible the client doesn't support it.
Also, are the accounts POP3 or IMAP? POP3 usually doesn't do well with synchronizing with servers in my experience.
POP3. I've done a little searching on google and didn't find anything of particular use off the top of my search other than verifying that a lot of people have this problem themselves. Though, I didn't do any deep searching, being busy and all this time of year (as most people are).
And I don't think I've seen such an option, but I might have overlooked it. I never considered checking on my phone's end though, but I don't recall seeing that option back when I was synching it through the webmail clients for Uni-mail or hotmail.
K9 will allow you to also delete on the server (so it doesn't download on your desktop the next time you check it) as well as leave emails on your phone (so they don't disappear when you check your email on your desktop).
It's what I use and I love it. I highly suggest you try it. I'd be more than happy to help you set it up if you want. Just let me know!
pop3 does not sync with anything. You are simply downloading email. When you delete it, you are deleting it off your phone only.
If you're using the real gmail app, or any other app that's any good, you'll get a 'real' sync.
this. see if you can set up your email as IMAP., then you will get the sync. i use my edu address as IMAP on my phone using the stock email app and it will sync fine
I think I'll look at K9 by the end of the weekend. I'll be busy for most of tomorrow and Saturday, so I'll have to look into it a little later. I'm presuming it'd be a little easier to use than to reconfigure my email settings to IMAP but that's just an uneducated hunch hah!
IMAP is nice in that all devices will show the same data at all times, including folder structure.
IMAP is not so nice in that it is slower than POP because everything remains on the server. This can lead to you hitting your quota quicker if you don't regularly delete emails and or get frequent, large attachments.
POP is nice in that it's quick and you (typically) pull the email off the server, reducing your risk of hitting your quota.
POP is not so nice in that retrieving messages (typically) means that other devices can not also get the same message. There are ways around this, however.
