Projectors

So I recently purchased an art projector so I don't have to go into my school to do a projection everytime I want to start an illustration and transfer my sketch to a surface for painting. The projector has turned out to be pretty disappointing. It is so low resolution that projecting at virtually any size the image is very pixelated. The color is fantastic, but that is sort of irrelevant for my purposes. I feel like it was pretty expensive for what it is, and I think I am going to return it.

Is anyone familiar with projectors? Is there perhaps an entertainment-style projector that might suit my purposes in a similar price-range ($500-1000)? I guess it's important that it be relatively lightweight, resilient and able to be mounted on a tripod.

You would be much better off with one of these than a digital projector.

That doesn't really do what I need it to.

Really need a digital projector that I can hook up to a computer, or at least not have to print stuff out every time I use it.

The folks on the web show tekzilla really like the Optoma HD20 refurb projectors that are on sale at woot.com every few weeks. Apparently these have superb image quality for the price.
