Video driver issue

Went to install new drivers. Dxdiag said the card was a Radeon HD 5700.
Installing the new drivers gave me a blue screen. Odd, went back. Uninstalled them and tried again.
I keep getting an error saying there is something wrong with the software or I have the wrong drivers.
This isn't my PC, so perhaps I read the card wrong? There is nothing listed in dxdiag now so I'm not sure how to double check.
Owner doesn't know though.
Using their "auto detect" software just says that I'm up to date. But I'm currently flying with no video drivers at all.
