Spring 2011. 3DS drops like a rock worldwide. Oh sure you might have a crazy talking from a street corner about how awesome Street Fighter port is, or maybe someone proclaiming that Shadow Wars was the next best thing to a real X-Com sequel, but most people did not care about that crazy new DS with its glassesless three dee. Where are the real games? Why did Nintendo abandon the launch to these ungrateful third parties? No Mario, Zelda, Pokémon, Kid Icarus, Mach Rider, Soccer, Balloon Kid sequel. What is wrong with them?

Months went by. Oh sure, we got a Zelda port, a ton of free games (22 and counting!) new colors, some 3DS ware, some VC Gameboy titles. Whatever.

But then finally our salvation came this winter with the biggest thing to ever come to a handheld.

It's no surprise that in the two weeks since coming out in Japan the 3DS has sold around 800k more units. Probably did a lot more than that in the one week Europe and America has had it. It's that good.

Use the rest of the thread to tell people that you added them (or send out a gigantic PM chain or whatever, you're smart people, you can figure it out yourself.)

Really? Well that makes a hell of a lot more sense then. The program seems to imply you'll be sending them to all and sundry which would be a marked deviation from Nintendo's usual attitude to these things.

Think chronological order might be better for the list (from this point on) so peoples don't get confused about who they have and have not added.

For those who don't get Nintendo's system you have to add back people who add you (and vice versa) for anything to happen. You don't get any sort of message when someone adds you to the list. You only get a notice when both people have eachother on their lists.

I like to make swapnotes for a few minutes before I go to bed. It's the perfect way to wind down from a stressful day. Also, I have not received a single wang/dink/johnson from anyone yet. The GT is surprisingly mature and tasteful. Who knew!

Maybe it would help to put something about that in the title, to avoid some confusion.

I wish we could do animations. One of my second cousins got a DSi for christmas so I got to play with Flipnote, and it's really nice. I doubt animation of a reasonable length would be much more data than the "record every single pen stroke for playback" system they're using now.

Edit: Not to mention we've been promised a Flipnote replacement/equivalent since before the 3DS came out. Swapnote may be what they were talking about, but considering Flipnote's entire functionality seems to be making animations, it's certainly not an adequate replacement.

When was the last time they mentioned it? I sort of assumed Flipnote Memo became Swapnote.

No way to tell the exact date unfortunately, but the timer will slowly move up as it gets closer.
