I am playing SimCity 3000 again, and I am really digging the soundtrack. However, even though I have listened to tons of early R&B and swing jazz, I don't know where to quite start when it comes to finding more smooth jazz. Anyone have any suggestions for artists to take a look at?
Aside from the ones I mentioned, I don't care about jazz
Listen to rap (Kanye, Cudi) and pop (Adele, Gaga, Ke$ha, Perry) and metal (Maiden, Mastodon) instead
I used to like metal until started to transition to electronic music/drum and bass/downtempo music a while ago. Still can't get into rap or pop unless it's being played as part of a scene in a movie or TV show or video game.

Listen to Deadmau5 and Skrillex now
You won't regret it
Not a big fan, sorry. I am more of an Amon Tobin person... In fact, that is all I listen to these days...
Any serious suggestions? Stuff that sounds like the SimCIty 3000 soundtrack. That is all I am looking for.

Did you just totally stop reading there and not see "drum and bass" or "down tempo"? Or did you think, "To hell with those, listen to this boring guy and this grating guy."?

It's not just Jazz. Esperanza Spalding and Kenny G do not go together in the same breath.
this is one of your greatest posts
just because two artists perform similar genres doesn't make them comparable!
There is a big difference between jazz and smooth jazz

Incidentally, I'm clicking through Sim City 3000 tracks on YouTube, because I never played that one, and I haven't hit any smooth jazz yet.
There's some bop and straight ahead stuff, some 20th century classical, and even some minimalist and acid jazz sounding stuff.
nothing but the truth, ma'am
Excuse my genre-mislabeling, then.
