Irritating droid issue with YouTube videos

My Android OS HTC Desire will sometimes just decide halfway through a YouTube clip that it 'can't play the video', stop playback and reset the clip. Very, very annoying.
I have no idea what is causing the issue, and it happens frequently but randomly, even on small clips. It has plenty of internal space left (over a gig), I've reset it, I've given it a factory reset... is there some Flash update or OS update I likely need? If so, how do I get such an upgrade?
