So recently I was wondering if there are any good freeware RPG makers around? Back in the day I used RPG Maker 2K, but since that's actually not freeware I'm looking for something as simple as it to use. I mainly just want it to dick around, and if I actually finish a game I want to be able to send it to my friends. Used to be a pretty good sprite maker too, though the Protoman giving the middle finger as my avatar is the extent of what I've done lately.

    I used to use rpgtoolkit WAY back in the day, like 97-2000. I dont think it has been updated much since...well a while ago. Maybe 2004?

    It wasn't quite as newbie friendly as rpgmaker2000 but it allowed for much more in depth stuff if you were willing to code a bit.

    Yeah, that was about the time I was into the Rm2k "scene." It's a shame those things retailed for obscene monies.

    I too used to use rpgtoolkit. I was never disciplined enough to finish something, but it was fun to fuck around with.
