I have used (and love) my Logitech MX Revolution wireless mouse for about 5 years now but it has started to flake out on me (not moving correctly sometimes, double-clicking on a single click from time to time) so alas, it's pretty much done and I need a suitable replacement.
I enjoy playing mostly FPS's, a few RPGs, and it has to work as an ergonomic every day mouse whereby I'll be using it for a good 15ish hours per stretch in some cases.
my eyes have been on the Logitech G700, Logitech Performance MX, and the Razer Mamba 2012, but I'm open to any reasonable suggestions. I can budget probably somewhere in the $150 range so money isn't particularly tight, I just want something that works really well, feels really good, and will last me a while.
I currently use the Logitech G700, It's going to be close to how the mouse you have feels. If you like the buttons and MMO, it's good for macros. I used to have a Razer Deathadder which was ok, but this is so much nicer. The weight and dpi settings really allow for some nice performance.
Another vote for the Razer Mamba. Not a lot of people use their mice for macros which is a shame because I can open up programs/games with a button or do common sequences with another. Really, really handy for MMOs. YMMV, though.
All else fails, it is a nice and buttery smooth mouse.
I must admit that I had not previously considered the RAT9 as an option... I'm curious as to how it feels... I would think that all those separations near the thumb would be a bit rough, and that thumb wheel is interesting...
does the RAT9 or mamba support the scroll wheel clutch that makes for logitech's "hyper-fast scrolling"? I find myself taking advantage of that from time to time and i'm not sure how i feel about letting it go.
Macros are nice, but I don't really find myself using them all that much... I do make use of the 4 and 5 mouse buttons in games like the call of duty series (for me melee and grenades respectively). the MX Revolution's slider switch (6 and 7) typically go completely unused because they are too far up to be useful and i don't know what i'd do with them if they were more available. I could see how a button for auto-click or "special switch" and "special execute" in mmo's and rpg's (especially if you can program the cooldowns between clicks) but i don't find it particularly necessary overall.
though I haven't tried it, the mamba looks as if they sacrificed the good ergonomics found in the logitech performance series (and others) as well. that slight indent and slant to the right can be the difference between a very sore wrist or not after coming home from something like pax east
I'm just curious how everyone else feels about it.
You don't like the shape? Well, that's kind of a deal killer on any mouse you buy, so I certainly wouldn't recommend it in that case. But it's pretty much a dead ringer for the standard 'intellimouse' shape.

I'm honestly not entirely sure that I like the shape or don't like the shape... I just know that the logitech feels really nice... I'd have to play with a mamba to get a feel for it, but sadly that doesn't seem to be particularly likely.
