Messing with ps3 NAT settings

So I am attempting to rise from mediocrity at Call of Doody and to wring every cent out of my last century DSL internet connection. I have been told I need to get my ps3 to NAT 1, to get CoD to give me a better connection. I am not sure what I am doing.
