A friend of mine posted this on her facebook twice now and no one has replied. And she's got like 300 people on her contact list. "Pay it forward 2012. I promise to make something handmade for the first five people who comment. They must in turn post this and make something for the first five people who post comments in their status. *The rules are it has to be made by you and they must receive it before 2012 ends- it can be something as simple as making a friend a cup of coffee"
I opened that with the intention of reading it, then saw how small my scroll bar was. So I thought, "hey, maybe it just has a load of comments at the bottom", but nope.

My post doesn't make sense now that Mojo's added pictures.
Also, I should probably think about starting dinner soon. Squash-pasta and a creamy mushroom sauce tonight. Maybe some salad.

Does it count as hand made if I just put some instant coffee in hot water?

I like Rickard's Red from a tap, same with Alexander Keith's, but both from a bottle just aren't as good.

Kotaku is shit.
It's always been shit.
There was a brief period of approximately one week where I was like "huh...Kotaku isn't so bad anymore I guess."
And then it went right back to being shit.

TAPE
If I buy a drink at a convenience store and say I don't want a bag, they insist on putting a little piece of tape over the barcode. Most of the time, they put it on sideways, instead of vertically — you know, the way that would prevent the barcode from being scanned by a rogue scanner. They do this so you can prove that you paid for the drink, should you roll into another convenient store glugging away. For some reason, the longer I live in Tokyo, the more this really shits me off. I don't know why! I like to take the tape off, stick it to my receipt, and then drop it into the little trash can by the register.
i just saw an obvious off-duty cop with the most obvious exposed gun ever. he almost looked like he was open carrying, just by inattention. he's wearing sweat pants and a PPD tshirt, and his pants are hanging down under the weight of his pistol- just, fully viewable for all the world.
also this is why I fucking hate Kotaku. They now have Kotaku Core to filter out this shit which shouldn't be there in the first place.
If their parent company wants to talk about weeaboo shit so much then just make a damn weeaboo site.
Huh?
Kotaku has always been a weeaboo site.
No Kotaku is a gaming blog.
90% of this weeaboo stuff like the "girl in Akihabarra who shows her panties" and other shit like that all comes from 1 editor
Okay, so maybe weeaboo is inaccurate, but as far as gaming blogs go they trend toward the dumbest shit you could write about. All of the editors. The entire staff sucks.
In fact, I used to write for eToychest and we lost one of our writers to Kotaku and even he started writing crapola. I thought he was a decent writer when he was with us.
I think it's "corporate policy" over at Kotaku to write about dumb shit.

At this point she'd probably be happy to even get a cup of instant coffee from one of her friends (I'm not a proper friend at all). She's kinda naive about a lot of stuff, so I consider this a learning experience for her.
The solution is to install noscript and have it block all of the Gawker sites by default. That way if you ever go to one by accident, this is all you see:
I sometimes open Kotaku at work because I desperately need entertainment and I don't feel comfortable browsing PA (besides: this place is small and has a lot of useless posts I don't want to read). What other site would you guys recommend? So far Kotaku hasn't amused me yet.

I skimmed it.
Sounds like he just needs to move out of Japan. :P
Sounds like he just needs to move out of Japan. :P
Sounds like he is just an entitled douche who won't be happy anywhere he lives ever. I bet he would complain about the crickets and bird being too loud if he lived in a cabin the woods.
So we get stiff once in a while. So we have a little fun. What’s wrong with that? This is a free country, isn’t it? I can take my panda any place I want to. And if I wanna buy it a drink, that’s my business.

Gun owners, what does the 'lock' part of the phrase 'lock and load' mean? I'd think loading a weapon would be step one so ... load and lock?
I'm guessing, but it probably has to do with how the action 'locks' open so that when you insert a new magazine, you just release the action and it's ready to roll.

Crickets are always a valid thing to complain about : (

This is for semi-auto and automatic weapons only.
This is correct. Alternatively you could interpret it as locking a magazine into the magazine well, and then pulling the bolt back to load the first round.
e: the result is the same. I would usually do the latter since it involves one less step.

So BioWare is making C&C: Generals 2 using the Frostbyte 2 engine.
That's quite a mix. RPG maker developing an RTS game using a FPS engine.

My god, this weeaboo's rant just keeps going.
Subsist only on what can be eaten raw.
I think Vanilla needs to steal posts occasionally to stay alive.

Stella from a bottle is good, though.

It means locking the slide or bolt back. So you can load it and release the slide or bolt to chamber a round.
